Resolutions

Committee: General Human Rights Council

Topic: Ending Modern Slavery, Trafficking and Child labour

Country: Afghanistan

School: SMA Negeri 1 Ciampea

According to United Nations, Modern Slavery it is used as an umbrella term covering practices such
as forced labour, debt bondage, forced marriage, and human trafficking. Human Trafficking refers to
“a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights”. Human trafficking that must be present for a
situation of trafficking in persons (adult) to exist are therefore: (i) action (recruitment) ; (ii) means
(threat) and (iii) purpose (exploitation). There are a lot of types modern slavery, it’s child sex
trafficking, forced labour and domestic servitude. These issues still go on today no country is free
from modern slavery, Despite the fact that slavery is prohibited worldwide, modern forms of the
sinister practice persist. And more than 40 million peoples still toil in debt bondage in asia. Human
trafficking can be divided into three populations.

Statement of the UNODC Executive Director Yuri Fedetov said “Protecting the most vulnerable
among us has become ever more important, as humanitarian crises and armed conflict have left
children and young people at greater risk of being trafficked. The perils are compounded further still
when children and young people are on the move, often separated from their families’’. In 2000, The
United Nations launched the protocol the prevent, suppress and punish trafficking in persons, Which
estabilished a victim-centred approach to trafficking. It has since been signed by 177 countries. The
UN General Assembly has also recently adopted A/RES/69/149 on combatting trafficking of women
and girls, A/RES/69/147 to eliminate violence against women, and A/RES/69/236 to emphasize the
role of women in development.

Exacerbated by security problems, however, developmental progress has been painfully slow with
Afghanistan having some of the lowest social indicators in the world. Despite billions of dollars in
aid, Afghanistan ranks the 174th out of 178 countries, which is the lowest outside Africa. Despite the
lack of significant efforts, the Afghan government "took some steps to address trafficking, including
continuing to identify trafficking victims, prosecuting and convicting some traffickers, including two
perpetrators of bacha bazi for kidnapping, and conducting four trainings for provincial antitrafficking
officers," the report said. The government has also increased the number of Child Protection Units at
Afghan National Police recruitment centers  which the report said prevented the recruitment of 357
child soldiers.

The Afghanistan Federation feels that important subtopics that must be stop the modern slavery
include human trafficking, child labour. Protecting victims of the trade through offering them options
of safe and suistainable reintegration. In order to stop human trafficking The right to life and liberty
are constitutionally protected as are the right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence for all
persons. Also, Afghanistan believes should end it problems to safe humanity and all child has a good
life and their parents life and work like other without trafficking and live in fair.
