Tuason Racing School: An Exemplary Tradition
of Racing
Established in 1999, Tuason Racing School (TRS) is the first
and the longest running professional racing school in the country. Now on
its 11th year, it has become one of the premier racing schools in Asia, with
students coming from different parts of the world. TRS aims to provide a
complete ladder in motorsports and driver training.
The school offers instruction in go-karts, circuit car racing,
formula car, and drifting. It is the only racing school that offers race training
complete with professional instructors, state of the art equipment, race-
prepared vehicles, and a scientific teaching curriculum designed from 22
years of racing experience and training with the best racing schools in the
world.
TRS is headed by the progeny of one of the pioneer racing
families in the Philippines. Multi-awarded race car drivers JP and Mike
Tuason, sons of racing legend Arthur Tuason, along with their wives,
Jeanette and Brenda, share an impassioned vision to develop motorsports
as a choice career where Filipinos can excel in internationally. Each has
undergone research and training from top racing schools abroad the likes
of Skip Barber, Richard Petty, Michael Andretti, and Bob Bondurant. The
brothers also boast a successful career in karting, touring cars, rallying,
and Formula 3 racing, and have competed extensively both locally and
abroad.
But TRS isn't just a school that teaches you how to go fast. It is
one that prioritizes the provision of proper safety equipment, intensive
training regarding safety protocols and responsible race driving, and the
efficient use of a race car's features as well as winning strategies in terms
of speed and conquering a track. It has advocated road safety in the past
seven years through awareness programs for different skill levels. The
training program of TRS was created around three safety pillars: the first is
the creation and training of a new generation of disciplined drivers, which is
addressed by TRS-initiated school tours; the second is to re-educate
current drivers, which is done in partnership with conscious road safety
corporations; the third is the cultivation of a racing culture on the track and
not on the streets, which is achieved through the racing school.
TRS has also opened their Driver Development Academy,
which focuses on educating Filipino motorists in partnership with different
motoring agencies in the country ( AAP, SOPI, and LTO) and abroad (The
American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association and the US
National Safety Council).
