Croatia has a population of over 4 million people and became independent in 1991 after the breakup of Yugoslavia. It joined the European Union in 2013. Croatia has a parliamentary republic government and a long history dating back to the arrival of Croats in the 6th century.

June 879 during the reign of Duke Branimir. Tomislav
became the first king by 925, elevating Croatia to the
