LOOKING BEYOND LIVING.
ALL ROUND BALANCING AND EXPLOITING THE POTENTIAL OF FISHERMAN VILLAGE IN PULICAT LAKE.
INTRODUCTION:
This thesis focuses on how well an environment can be formed by
understanding the history, culture, climate ,weather and accepting
the nature. It will increase the livelihood of people living in that
particular fishing village. It will increase the production of a
particular place by using sustainable strategies and principles that
could take the advantage of existing resources and ecoservices
without damaging it.
AIM:
The main aim of this Thesis is to make people aware, that how well
an environment can be built without disturbing the ecosystem.
WHY FISHERMEN COMMUNITY?
They lead a lifestyle which entirely depend on natural resources.
They have a major role in damaging as well as conserving the
ecosystem. When the ecosystem goes down their main source of
income (ie: Fishing) goes down. In order to increase the livelihood
of the fishermen community that in turn can promote the
ecosystem of that particular place.
What is the need for this study?
To improve the economic stability and to preserve the ecosystem.
By improving the the livelihood of people we can improve the
ecological stability.
To incorporate more sustainable method of construction and bring
awareness to people about the place they are living in.
Research and education facilities while protecting natural and
cultural systems.
Fishing settlement characteristics generally describe the majority
of the population depend on agricultural work in general, thus the
level of income, education and health degree is low.
RESEARCH SCOPE:
1.End extreme poverty and hunger.
2.Achieve development and prosperity for all without ruining the
environment.
3. Ensure learning for all children.
4.Achieve gender equality and reduce inequalities.
5.Achieve health and well being for all age groups.
6.Increase economic stability of the local people thereby achieving
food security and rural prosperity.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS STUDY:
1.To understand the concept of sustainability and sustainable
development.
2.To inform various issues like climate change ,ecological
footprint and changes in the environment.
3.To understand low impact construction practices, lifecycle, and
alternate energy resources.
4.To understand the concept of sustainable communities and the
economic and social dimension.
METHODOLOGY AND APPROACH.
1.Identifying the gap between people and the ecosystem.
2.collect material and analyse the subject and site.
3.Brainstorm the problems.
4.Develop solutions .
5.Present solutions
DESIGN SCOPE:
Sustainability rely on the factors
1.Economy
2.Social equity
3.Ecology
The economic status of the people can be improved by promoting
tourism in that particular place.
Awareness can be created by giving awareness camp for the local
people.
The ecosystem can be protected using traditional methods of
construction technique and local fishing methods.
THE CONCEPT OF ECOTOURISM:
Coastal ecotourism concept include various types of tourism and
recreation, which occurred in the coastal zone, also including
tourism activities such as recreational boating, beach-and
ocean-based ecotourism, cruises, swimming, recreational fishing,
snorkeling and diving. Similarly, the abundant marine resources
(fish, shellfish, wetlands, and coral reefs) become very important
for recreation experiences. Security of natural coastal hazards such
as storms, hurricanes, tsunamis, and the like is a requisite for
sustainable coastal tourism in the long term.
The concept of integration of settlements with coastal tourism, can
be synergy between the settlements with the tourist spots there,
growing in harmony and mutual support. The concept of
integration is comprehensive in scope to the construction of a rural
fishing community, using participatory rural appraisal approach.
Development gap between rural and urban, can be seen in rural
residential areas, settlements with all the supporting infrastructure
of public facilities and infrastructure and social services. Rural
areas and settlements are the settlements of fishermen who are less
well-planned so that the distribution infrastructure is lacking to
support its function.
If this area can be arranged in such a way as to approach the
concept of integration and participation, and increase the chances a
chance to try, then alternative employment for fishing communities
could be improved and the urbanization process can be slowed
down .
Integration of coastal ecotourism concept in this approach, the aim
that we can get something that is most advantageous to enter
values: the carrying capacity of the social, ecological carrying
capacity, as well as the allure of beautiful landscapes, but still
interesting for coastal tourism development. Settlement and
integration of eco-tourism, which together, linkage into a coherent
whole
COMPONENTS OF THE ECO VILLAGE :
1.Residential units for the local people.
2.Primary health centre.
3.primary school.
4.Boating points.
5.Recreational spaces
THRUST AREA:
To prevent migration of people from villages by creating job
opportunities in their own village.
To improve community living through sustainable practices and to
promote local history and culture.
CONCLUSION:
Integration of coastal settlement with tourism-based community
empowerment as a solution to find the concept to open up
alternative employment opportunities for fishermen. Therefore, the
incorporation of residential zoning to the tourist will find a variety
of activities and creativity that can be used as tourist resorts for
tourists and benefit the local community and sustainability.
