Can music play an important role in solving the world's problems, or is it just

entertainment that has little effect?

Music where act as a source of entertainment for the people, similarly it has a significant
impact on the social change. If we look in the past then history is evident music always
remained an integral part of every movements. It incites the people and keeps them
motivated with respect to the movement’s objectives. Therefore, it wouldn’t be
nevertheless to say that Music act as a change agent that has been used by the
movement bringing social change. Scientist has observed that monitoring the activities
of people doing music practically the whole brain lights up simultaneously. Particularly,
the auditory, the visual and motor quadtix. All are these the part of brain which will be
strengthened and individual will be using it later on for the different things of life such
as language and problem solving. The world has witnessed that music has played a
significant role in bringing the social change when black and white musicians
highlighted their issues and challenges in a very comprehensive way through music in
1950 and 60s.

For instance, During the 1960 the white singers Bob Dylan and Joan Baez sacrificed
their musical talent to make the civil rights movements successful. Meanwhile, the
music played by these singers gave a boost to the African americans to stand firm for
their rights. These songs further, bolstered the courage, sense of freedom, and sense of
community among the people of civil rights. According to the study of Young, he stated
that

Andrew Young, former executive director of the Southern Christian Leadership


Conference, remembered how music helped build bridges between civil rights workers
and members of the communities they hoped to organize:

"They often brought in singing groups to movement friendly churches as a first step in
their efforts...They knew how little chance they stood of gaining people's trust if they
presented themselves as straight out organizers: people were too afraid to respond to
that approach. So they organized gospel groups and hit the road."
