EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
01/2018 – 04/2018
TEACHER, MEADOWBROOK STEM CENTER (AFTERSCHOOL SCIENCE CLUB)
For my science methods class, students had to work together by creating science lessons and
teaching them. I was in a group where we had to teach our lessons at an afterschool program.
06/2014 – 07/2014
VOLUNTEER, THE CHILDREN’S CENTER (THERAPEUTIC PRESCHOOL)
I helped teachers with bringing supplies that were needed, passed out materials to the children. I
played with the children and helped with cleaning the classroom.
01/2019– 04/2019
READING TUTOR, THOMAS JEFFERSON JR. HIGH
For one of my classes, I needed to tutor a student using my school's reading program. This
program helped with their reading comprehension and phonics. I was there for two days for a
couple of months, improving their reading skills.
In my resume, I have listed some of my educational experience. These events influenced my
future teaching career. For example, when I volunteered at a therapeutic preschool. Even
though my degree is not in Early Education, I learned valuable information. The importance of
building a relationship with students, learning about their family background, etc. Showing your
students you care about them. Another example was when I was a reading tutor. I realized that
there is a lot of skills that go with reading. These skills build on each other, which is why it is
crucial to work on each skill. Lastly, teaching science lessons in an afterschool science club. I
learned that classroom management plays a vital role in teaching. You can have a perfect lesson,
great activities but, if you do not have classroom management. You cannot be a great educator.
My student teaching experience was great. I learned valuable information that will help in my
future career. I did my student teaching during the pandemic, where I had to adapt to new
routines. Some examples were seating that was space out and masks requirements for students
and teachers. It made teaching challenging. However, in the end, it made my teaching
confidence stronger. I knew that I could face any difficulties in my career.
