Case Project 4-2: Answer: One Reason That Can Justify Using Fiber-Optic Cable in This Situation I That A

Fiber-optic cable is preferred over twisted pair cable for a 400ft distance due to the latter's maximum segment length of 328.084ft. Twisted pair cables are also susceptible to RFI/EMI due to their conductive nature. Additionally, fiber-optic cables allow for future growth without the need for replacement when system upgrades occur.

Case Project 4-2

Answer: One reason that can justify using fiber-optic cable in this situation I that a
twisted pair cable won’t span a 400ft distance. Twisted pair cables have a
maximum segment length of 100 meters or 328.084ft. Another reason is that
twisted pair is a conductive cable and can, therefore, carry current based on the
difference in ground potential between the two buildings. The ground potential can
cause RFI/EMI. Yet another reason is that fiber-optic provides plenty of room for
growth, instead of having to dig up the ethernet cable the company wants to use
and replace it when it becomes too slow to keep up with an upgraded system.
