SLIDE # 11 (CBT)

This CBT does not focus only in what knowledge that you learned but more on
the skills that you can actually do in what knowledge that you learned.
_____________________________________________________________________________________

SLIDE # 12 & 13 (10 Principles of CBT)

1. The training is based on Curriculum developed from the competency standards

The trainer should be aware that all the training activities are done towards the attainment of
the assessment criteria set in the competency based curriculum.
2. Learning is competency-based or modular in structure.
Each core competency has corresponding modules which contain information and activities to
be perform to the achievement of the required competencies. The trainee should be
competent in a module currently working on before proceeding to the next module.
3. Training delivery is individualized and self-paced.
Each trainee treated as individual trainees with different characteristic, learning styles and
training needs. Therefore, trainer should provide varied activities and different teaching
methodology which allow the trainee to advance on his own pace without waiting for the other
trainees.
4. Training is based on work that must be performed.
The training is based on the actual industry practice. As a trainer, you should provide activities
simulated to the actual work environment to achieve the competencies required in actual job
practice.
5. Training materials are directly related to the competency standards and the
curriculum.
The learning materials should be related on the competency standards and should put the
resources together to produce learning materials and learning activities appropriate to attain
the performance criteria is the CS.
6. Assessment of learners is based in the collection of evidences of work performance
based on industry or organizational required standards.
Assessment is done to test whether the trainee able to perform the job within the required
criteria in the competency standards. Grades are not the basis of the competency of the trainee
rather it is based on the satisfaction of criteria/evidences which are collected through prepared
institutional competency evaluation.
7. Training is based on and off the job components and off the components.
Training is conducted with the simulated work environment or laboratory and also in
partnership with the industry which covers 60-70% of the required competency of the
qualification.
8. The system allows recognition of prior learning (RPL).
CBT focuses on the competencies that are not yet acquired by the trainee. If the trainee have
prior learning gained previous training, employment and life experiences and found out that
they will not waste time doing the activities that they already know.
9. The system allows for learner to enter and exit programs at different times and levels
and to receive an award for competencies attained at any point.
There is flexibility for entry and exit from programs. Trainees do not wait for others to be
completed before he can exit either in a competency or the qualification. Fast learners may
graduate faster than other.
10. Approved training programs are nationally accredited.
Training programs must register within UTPRAS (Unified TVET program registration and
accreditation system) which assures the quality of training.
_____________________________________________________________________________________

SLIDE # 14 (CBT Flow)

divided in to 4 stages.
