"Memories" is a song by American pop band Maroon 5. It was released as a lead single from
their upcoming seventh studio album through 222 and Interscope Records on September 20, 2019.
The song is a simplified version of "Canon in D Major" by German composer Johann Pachelbel. It
was produced by lead vocalist Adam Levine and production team the Monsters and the Strangerz, and
written by Levine, Stefan Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Michael Pollack, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Jon
Bellion, and Vincent Ford. The single peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Interpretative Recount

According to Adam Levine, "Memories" became one of the songs that honored and paid
tribute to the former manager who passed away, Jordan Feldstein. Jordan, who is the older brother of
actor Jonah Hill, died in December 2017 due to a blood clot at the age of 40. The meaning of the
lyrics "Memories" is about us who are no longer able to be with loved ones so now we can only rely
on the memories of the things we went through together. When we get together, it makes those
memories loop back in our heads and makes us think of our loved ones who are no longer around us.

Evaluation

Adam Levine's voice is very good. It can touch our hearts and shake our souls. The story of
this song is great because it describes how we feel when we lose someone we love. In the lyrics of the
song, it is told that Adam Levine seemed hurt because he had "lost" someone he loved. The video clip
is very unique because it only shows Adam Levine's face from the beginning of the video to the end.
But, with all its goodness, this song has a downside. Which is where the background is dark in the
video clip, so that maybe the audience will be confused by it.
Summary Evaluation

This is a wonderful song. The lyrics with deep meaning can touch everyone’s heart and with
Adam’s beautiful voice makes it even better. There are some minor downside/flaws from this song
but it’s not a big problem. This is a must-heard song and worth adding to your playlist.
