PINA FIBER
Pina fiber is a fiber, made of pineapple leaves. Historically, it originated from Brazil
and was taken to Indonesia by Spanish and Portuguese about 1599. In Indonesia the plant is
grown largely on the islands of Java and Sumatra. These include the area of Subang,
Majalengka, Purwakarta, Purbalingga, Bengkulu, Lampung and Palembang. The pineapple
fibers is used as the raw materials in the textile industry. The shape of the pineapple leaf
resembles a tapered sword on the tip of it in blackish green and has a sharp thorn on the edge.
Depending on a number of species or varieties of plants, the pineapple leaf ranges from 55 to
75 cm, in length at 3.1 to 5.3 cm, and leaves are between 0.18 and 0.27 cm thick. The
pineapple leaf has an outer layer of top and bottom. Between these layers are strips of fiber
attached to each other by some kind of adhesive in the leaves. Since a pineapple leaf has no
leaf bone, the absence of fibers in it will enhance the pineapple leaf at the time of its growth.
The harvesting of the pineapple leaves generally takes place at a plant ages span from 1 to 1.5
years. To obtain strong fibers, a smooth, smooth selection is necessary on mature pineapple
leaves. The natural properties of a pineapple fiber can absorb both the sweat and moisture.
The pineapple fibers is rigid and transparent, just like the organic material, but the pineapple
fibers are soft and smoother, texture and lighter. The pineapple fibers is commonly used for
clothing.
The first step in the process of extracting the pineapple leaf is to classify the leaf
according to its length. After being properly properly covered with the extract of the leaf by
inserting the tip into the mouth of the machine with the other end of the hand in hand, after
which a quick tug of the leaf begins to release and fall leaving the fiber behind, if not done
quickly, the leaf will scrape away and be unable to remove it. Doing the same thing at the
other end and then rinsing it with water And squeeze the fibers, so the greens on the leaves
fade.
The next step is the fibers of the pineapple leaves with a knife. The shavings were
made to separate the remaining flesh of the leaf that remained attached. After being rinsed
back on the pineapple leaf fibers. Sun fibers then dry to get a good color and may last for
years or rotten quickly, for if done indoors the color from the fibers turns reddish. After the
fibers are threaded, manually roll the fibers. When you reach the end, connect fibers one to
the other to make the thread long. After rolling up the thread could be woven into cloth. They
can be transformed into clothes, vests, wall decorations and scarves.
