On-Board Programming for use in most GM vehicles for model years 2006-2010. Some
vehicles may require a dealer or aftermarket programming tool. Most GM vehicles for model
years 2011-2012 require a dealer or aftermarket programming tool.

USE THIS PROCEDURE FOR VEHICLES WITH DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER BUTTONS

RELEARN REMOTE
This display allows you to match Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters to your vehicle. This
procedure will erase all previously learned transmitters. Therefore, they must be relearned as
additional transmitters.

1. Press the vehicle information button until PRESS V TO RELEARN REMOTE displays.
2. Press the set/reset button until REMOTE LEARNING ACTIVE is displayed.
3. P
 ress and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first transmitter at the same time for about 15
seconds. On vehicles with memory recall seats, the first transmitter learned will match driver 1 and
the second will match driver 2. A chime will sound indicating that the transmitter is matched.
4. T
 o match additional transmitters at this time, repeat Step 3. Each vehicle can have a maximum of
eight transmitters matched to it.
5. To exit the programming mode, you must cycle the key to LOCK/OFF.

USE THIS PROCEDURE FOR VEHICLES WITHOUT DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER BUTTONS

To reprogram the remote entry transmitters:

1. Ensure the vehicle is electronically unlocked.

2. Put the key in the ignition.

3. Turn the key from the LOCK position to RUN.

4. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the LOCK position and RUN. NOTE: The eighth
turn must end in the RUN position.

5. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been activated.

6. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter. NOTE: If more than 20 seconds
have passed you will need to start the procedure over again.

7. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that this remote entry transmitter has been
programmed.

8. Repeat Step 6 to program each additional remote entry transmitter.

9. Turn the ignition to the LOCK position after you have finished programming all of the remote entry
transmitters.

10. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been exited.

Focus 2000-2007 Close doors, buckle seat belts, off to on 4x, tone, then depress remote button.

1. Start with key out of ignition, driver’s door is open all others closed and driver’s door is unlocked.

2. Insert key into the ignition (Do NOT Turn) and Pull key out.

3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.

a. U
 sing the power lock switch on the driver’s door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock.
Use an even pace and try to go about one cycle per second (1 Cycle = 1 lock and 1 unlock).

b. Close, then open driver’s door.

4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.

a. U
 sing the power lock switch on the driver’s door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting with lock.

b. Insert the key in the ignition cylinder.

 urn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF once to program remote while retaining
the original remote codes. Twice to erase all original codes and add new remote. Three times to
check how many remotes are programmed or five times to erase all original codes.

d. Remove the key from the ignition.

5. W
 ithin 3 seconds the power door locks should cycle automatically indicating successful entry into
programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds.

a. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1 second.

b. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press the lock button itself and
hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle once indicating successful
programming. If the door locks do not cycle, or cycle twice. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 as
your remote has not been accepted.

c. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote.

7. Close driver’s door.

programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps A and B in step 6 as the remote has
not been accepted.

c. Repeat steps A and B in step 6 for each new remote.

completely from ignition cylinder each time. If this procedure is performed too fast, the system will
not enter programming mode.

3. Insert key into the ignition cylinder and turn to the ACC position.

4. Within 5 seconds, push ANY button on the remote transmitter. Your Hazard Lamps should flash.

NOTE:
Do not press the button more than one time in the above step. If the button is pressed more
than one time, the programming procedure will not be successful.

5. If there are any remaining transmitters (including the old ones), unlock then lock all doors using the
driver’s side power lock/unlock switch and within 5 seconds, push ANY button on the next remote.
Your Hazard Lamps should flash. Repeat this step for each transmitter (including any existing

6. T
 urn the key to the OFF position, remove keys from the ignition, unlock doors using the driver’s side
power lock/unlock switch and open the driver side door.

You must program the remote’s unique 8 digit code into the vehicle to complete programming. A label
with an eight-digit number is located on the outside of the remote. Original remotes will have this
code on the circuit board inside the remote.

1. To begin sit in the driver’s side seat and close all doors including the trunk.

2. Within 45 seconds open and close the driver’s door one time.

3. T
 urn the ignition key from Lock to ON 10 times within 15 seconds. End in the locked position.
DO NOT REMOVE KEY!

4. A
 buzzer sound and interior light may continue to flash until remote codes are completely
registered. Continue to the next step even if there is no sound or flashing light. If you did not
perform the previous steps with 45 seconds programming may be unsuccessful.

5. If the previous steps were completed in 45 seconds, open and close the driver’s door. An electronic
tone will begin to sound.

6. Use the power lock button located on the door to enter the 8 digit code before the chime stops.

7. P
 ush the power lock button to the lock position the same number of times as the 1st. number of the
8 digit code.

EXAMPLE: - 64241132 - Press power lock button to lock 6 times.

8. When complete push power lock button to unlock 1 time.

9. C
 ontinue to enter the remaining numbers of the code using the instructions in step 7 & 8
until all 8 digits of the code have been entered.

 hen finished entering all 8 digits, push the power lock button to unlock one time and then repeat

 hen the eight digit code has been entered twice an electronic tone will sound for 30 seconds or

6. CLOSE and OPEN the DRIVERS side door

7. P
 ress the LOCK then UNLOCK the switch 5 times. (Try to pace yourself to 1 second for each LOCK
and UNLOCK sequence. Lock/Unlock/Lock/Unlock/Lock/Unlock/Lock/Unlock/Lock/Unlock)

8. INSERT the KEY into the ignition

9. Switch the ignition to ON then OFF TWICE (ON/OFF/ON/OFF)

10. REMOVE the key from the ignition

11. The door locks will cycle (lock and unlock) to confirm successful entry into programming mode

12. P
 USH and RELEASE the LOCK and UNLOCK button on the first remote you are programming at
the SAME TIME (Does not matter which remote you program first)

13. A
 s soon as you let go PUSH and HOLD the lock button on the SAME REMOTE for 2 seconds. The
door locks will cycle to confirm successful programming of the remote.

14. R
 epeat steps 12 and 13 for each additional remote you wish to program. If you have no additional
remotes, proceed to step 15.

15. C
 lose the DRIVERS side door. Programming is now complete.

ONBOARD PROGRAMMING FOR THE REMOTE PORTION:

1. Insert key into ignition, do not turn on.

2. Short Pins 1 and 4 in the OBD2 Port.

3. Within 10 Seconds of shorting the pins push the Hazzard Switch six times. The door locks will cycle.

4. P
 ush the lock button on the first remote three times within 10 seconds. The door locks will cycle if
the remote was recognized.

5. Follow this same step for any additional remotes.

6. Remove the short on Pins 1 and 4 on the OBD2 Connector.

7. Remove the Key from the Ignition.

8. Test all remotes
