1. Please write your insights on both modern and postmodern philosophies of education.
- Modern philosophy focuses on three main philosophies which are Perrenialism,
Progressivism and Humanism. Talking about Perrenialism, it deals more on how person
develop critical thinking skills and reason out rationally that will last in the long run. The next
one is Progressivism, discusses how learners learn through doing actual tasks which
encourages critical thinking and problem solving. And with that being said, the skills they
learned will be useful in their lives. Lastly, Humanism’s main focus is to help individuals be
familiar of human values and dignity and one’s potential.

Postmodern philosophy rejects what the modern philosophy believes in. In this philosophy,
Education became more diverse and individualized in terms of freedom.
2. What makes the modern and postmodern philosophies distinct from one another and from the
classical philosophies?
- What makes modern and postmodern philosophies distinct from one another and from the
classical philosophies are as follows:

Classical philosophies are based on the nature of reality. It focuses on clarifying student
knowledge; focusing on the mastery of facts and basic skills through demonstration and
recitation; applying student knowledge to real-life situations; and, finally, enabling students to
develop student potential through their choice.

On the other hand, Modern Philosophy focuses toward the future, toward the advancement of
knowledge of the students, toward human understanding, and toward progress through
method or through experience.

And lastly, Postmodern Philosophy is highly aware of the progressive diversity. In today's
world, media, mobility, and modern ways of expression and popular culture have brought
diverse societies far closer together. Learners learned to be creative and expert in learning
new knowledge through the use of advanced technologies.
