What are manufactured boards? Manufactured boards are boards that are made from
waste wood the boards are produced by giving wood chips or shaving together they are not
that expensive, but they are more used than solid woods which are hard woods and
manufactured boards are available in any thickness. Manufactured boards are good for
industrial production. Veneers are thin surfaced board, glued to a base of inferior material the
purpose of veneer is to make manufactured boards looks nice and cost effective. If veneers are
glued together to make plywood. Medium density fibre board are tiny softwood fibres held
together by glue. It can be used for furniture, school projects and flat pack. An advantage of
(MDE) is that they are cheap, dense, cuts easily and even surface. Plywood are odd numbers of
veneer boards glued together at right angles plywood are used for construction furniture and
school projects. An advantage of plywood is that they are very strong for weight and thickness,
attractive sides. Disadvantage is that they are more expensive. Chip boards are wood chips
shavings and dust are compressed and glued veneered they are used in furniture, kitchen and
cabinets. Oriented strand board are rough varying sized chips compressed and glued they are
used in housing walls and preventing access to sides. Block board are a core of soft wood strips
glued to edge often veneered. They are mostly used for cabinetry stairs, chopping boards and
work surfaces.
