Maternal & paternal grand lineages
M.J Van Gogh’s father is the eldest of 11 siblings. All of his siblings have stable job. Her
paternal grandfather was an army and was fond of participating in vices such as ‘’cockfight and
‘’tong-its’’. At the age of 52 he was working as a security guard in Malaybalay City. Eventually,
he was killed due to stabbing incident while on duty. Her paternal grandmother however died
with unknown disease. She was a loving mother but was too loving that she spoiled her children
especially M.J Van Gogh’s father even after he became married.
According to MJ Van Gogh’s father the relationship of MJ Van Gogh (grandchildren)
and his grandparents are good. Her grandparents are very loving, caring and supportive to MJ
Van Gogh during her childhood. There are no changes treating good on her until they are both
gone.
On the maternal side, M.J Van Gogh’s mother is the 2nd daughter of 11 siblings. Her
maternal grandfather died due to hypertension at the age of 87 while her maternal grandmother
was also died at the age of 95 with unknown disease. They were strict in terms of house rules but
they were described as loving parents. They never hit their children; they will just scold them
and reprimand them on their mistakes.
The mother of MJ Van Gogh stated that the relationship of his parents to MJ Van Gogh
(grandchildren) is just similar to other grandchildren’s they have. Her grandparents treated her
well. They showed love, care and kind to her.
a. PARENTS
Father
M.J Van Gogh’s father was a disciplinarian type of person. He is 74 years old a senior
citizen. He only finished high school. He was hard-working as a father. He was a part of
Philippine constabulary and work as an army in malaybalay but during martial law time he was
decided to resign at the age of 45. Before He was managing their farm planting corn, sugarcane
and other vegetables to provide and support his family. He was also described as short-tempered
and frequently drinks and smokes. He would go home drunk but he never hurt her wife and
children. He enjoyed going with his friends. He verbalized that “ usahay kay gapanguha ko ug
kwarta ka misis para ma-nari”. Then that’s the reason they are quarrelling with her wife in front
of our children but he never had an affair to other women. He said that he love and respect her
wife and his children.
The relationship of the father to MJ Van Gogh was good. He stated that he is sometimes
strict in disciplining to her but it was her way to show the care and love to her as a father..
Mother
M.J Van Gogh’s mother is a retired teacher. She is 73 years old a senior citizen also. She
was currently in their house and taking care of her husband and grandchildren. She disciplines
her children by just reprimanding them. She would reprimand her husband when he gets too
abusive. She has a high blood pressure and she take medication that prescribed by the doctor like
losartan. She wants to take care of her daughter in happy home but sad to say she is not allowed
because of his age. She loves her family especially to her children. She wants her children have
stable in life.
The relationship of the mother to MJ Van Gogh was quiet over protective. Her mother
was disapproved the relationship of MJ Van Gogh to his boyfriend. Her mother plans everything
by herself to make sure that the future of MJ Van Gogh was in good. When MJ Van Gogh was
got pregnant to his boyfriend her mother disagree them to get married at an early age. Her
mother decided to adopt the son of MJ Van Gogh and urge her to continue her schooling for her
future.
Siblings
M.J Van Gogh’s is the 2nd of 6 siblings. She has an elder sister. A married woman who
is currently working as a teacher. She takes care of Mary at happy home sometimes. Her
younger sister is also a teacher, she is also the one who takes care of Mary if her elder sister is
busy at work, she lives with her husband and children. His younger brother died due to heart
failure and stroke at the age 44 while his younger sister also died due to infantile beri-beri for
four days only. Her youngest sister is also married, finished her second year and is currently
working as an OFW in Dubai. Mary was a good to his siblings. At the age of 16 M.J Van Gogh
got pregnant and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. She was not able to get married to the father
of his son because her mother wanted her to finish her studies and also she was young at that
time of her pregnancy. The father of his son is willing to marry her but her mother disagreed.
The relationship of MJ Van Gogh and her siblings are in good terms they are helping
each other’s especially in the household chores. As a siblings relationship there are tendencies
they are having misunderstanding but throughout circumstances they appeared and showed love,
care and protect each other.
