Internet is a global wide area network that connects computer systems across the world. It forms a
globally connected network system where millions of computers can communicate with other
computers while they are both connected to internet. However, internet has its advantages and
disadvantages.
To start with the good sides of the internet, it is used for communication and information sharing by
billion of people around the world. Furthermore, the main advantages of that is making new friends,
learning about new cultures, finding interesting things that can help us in studying and even doing
business online. It is important to mention the giant social media platforms from which used by milions
of people around the world for messaging or video communication, such as Facebook, Instagram,
Youtube, or email platforms like Gmail, Yahoo , which are one of the most widely used features of the
internet which is used for communication between people, or tracking news from the website we
subscribed on, to find out all the information at the same time when it is distributed. What is more,
there are numerous forum websites where people discuss and share their information. The most
important thing is that internet is free to use, and that is the best thing for people that cannot afford for
the example, various information for the place they always wanted to go.
However, besides its good sides, internet has some very darks sides which are very important to
mention. Firstly, internet doesn’t always have a true and good information we looked for. Many
websites give informations that are not valuable and true. That is one of the reason we have to be
careful from which site we are taking information from ,especially if that informations are very
important to us. Secondly, as mentioned above, many social platforms give us opportunity to talk with
many people around the world, and that is one of the biggest drawbacks of the internet. We never know
who is behind that conversation, it can be very dangerous people taking informations from us and using
it on the bad purpose. For example, those people can tell you some nice words and ask many from you,
as a result you unconsciously bank-in the some money. Little children can be physically abused by
paedophiles and get kidnapped. It is proved that internet raised many crimes , especially kidnapping.
Children can also become addicted to online computer games, and be less more physically active, and
avoid face-to-face physical conversation, rather talking with people online. Thirdly, children can get
access to pornography and can become addicted and sexucally-devient.
In conclusion, internet made our life easier and more convenient. However, before using
internet, we have to be educated to use internet resources more effectively. Furthermore,
parents have to educate their children about internet bad sides as soon as possible to secure
they use it for their benefit , not to be abused by bad sides. Lastly, we take the responsibility for
the things we had done.
