What is computer?

The word “Computer” comes from the word “compute” which means to calculate.

It is an electronic device that accepts data as input, processes that data using programs, and outputs the

processed data as information.

modern computers process information in digital form have a larger memory and can run several and

more complex programs at once. The size of computers has decreased by a huge amount making

computers very easy to carry around.

Older Computers were analog computers.

Input data in analog computers is not a number, infect physical quantity.

What is hardware?

Hardware refers to the important physical elements of a computer, which we can touch or see. such as,

central processing unit, monitor, mouse, keyboard, computer data storage, sound card, speaker etc.

Define Input?

Any information or data sent to a computer for processing is considered as input and with the help

of input devices we interact with the computer and give the instructions to it.

For Example:- Keyboard, Mouse etc.

Define output?

Any information that is processed and sent out from a computer considered "output". and Output

devices provide data in different forms, some of which include audio, visual, and hard copy media.

Monitors and printers are two of the most commonly known output devices used with a computer.

What are storage devices ?

Storage devices are the hardware components that stores all our digital content.

What are types of computers?

There are four different types of computers given below.

"Super Computers"

Super computers are fastest, most expensive and are larger having multiple CPU's so can handle many

institutions in parallel and are use for complex calculations

such as:

nuclear science.

rocket launching.

"Mainframe Computers"

These are design to handle huge volume of data and information, typically use for large information for

bulk data processing.

"Mini computers"

Minicomputers are large, expensive, fastest than microcomputers and are intermediate between micro

and mini computers are not designed for single user it can support hundred of users at a time, used by

small business and firms.

"Micro Computers"

Micro computers are also called personal computers (PC) are small low cost and for single user digital

computer, consist of CPU, input output and storage units and the software.

Uses of Computers in various fields.

Computers are used in so many fields in our daily life. From Engineers to Doctors, Students, Teachers,

and

Government Organization they all use computers to perform specific tasks, for entertainment or just to

finish office work. Computers have made our life easier With less time taking. computers can do a lot in

short time while that task can take a lot of time while doing manually.

Here we are going to discuss some of the uses of computers in various fields.

"In field of business"

Computer has high speed of calculations, diligence, accuracy and reliability which has made it an

important part in all business organizations.

computer is used in business organizations for:

payroll calculations

budgeting

sale analysis

maintenance of stock etc.

"In the field of banking"

Today banking is almost totally depend on computers. such as online accounting facilities which includes

checking current balance, making deposits and overdrafts, checking interest charges shares etc.

ATM machines which are completely automated are making even more than Easier for customer to

deal with bank.

"In the field of health care"

Computers has become an important part in the Hospitals , labs and dispensaries. they are being used in

Hospitals to keep the record of Patients and medicines it is also use in scanning Diagnoses different

disease by ultra sound, Xray, CT scan etc. Computers are used to collect data of patients and diagnose

Cause of illness, all tests can be done and reported by the computers. computers also use to check

medicine's expiry dates, harmful side effects etc. Now a days computers also use in performing surgery.

“In the field of education”

Since education has also been affected by technology, computer becomes an integral part of each

student’s life. By just using this device, students can write and research their school works online and

communicate with their classmates and teachers through email or other platforms for shared

discussions and knowledge. Gone are the days when the only way to research and do your assignments

is through the library. Today, the availability of a computer in education makes it a whole lot easier and

faster to access everything you need to research. When students are trying to fetch everything they can,

related to the admission process and information about different universities that can help them decide

which college or university to apply to, they can quickly get it over the internet. Universities and colleges

have a tremendous online presence.

“In the field of military”

The computers in the military have been designed to do a broad range of tasks , such as analyzing

intelligence , organizing data for military leaders , geospatial analysis , controlling smart weapons , or

communications .Computer performs very important role in defense also used to track incoming

missiles target to destroy them. Computers are used in tanks and planes and ship to target enemy forces

and computers provide a direct network to allow multiple lanes of communication between various

parties within the military. computers help to witness what is happening now , with current and

developing technology such as more autonomous drones or smaller devices that the average battlefield

soldier can use.
