CONCEPT NOTES:
Diversity of styles and forms was a major characteristic of 20th century music- as it continues to be today for 21st
century music. The range spans the enduring works of classical masters to the folk, country and western, jazz,
pop, rock and roll, rap, and hip-hop music of contemporary artists. In effect, there is something for every musical
taste, interest, and preference regardless of history and cultural influences. African Latin-american music most
used instrument are percussion instruments.
In terms of Philippine contemporary music development, all these forms have provided a rich and diverse
musical background for its composers and performers to draw from and build upon. From Pre-Spanish roots
through the Spanish and American periods, up to the present, Phillippine music has since evolved to have its
own distinct identity.
How to Make Musical Instruments with Recycled Materials
(Maracas) https://www.wikihow.com/Make-Musical-Instruments-with-Recycled-Materials
Fill a plastic bottle. Fill an 8-oz (250-ml) plastic bottle halfway with a noise-making material. Tightly secure the cap on the top of
the bottle.
Cut a cardboard tube lengthwise. Cut straight down the length of one toilet paper tube. The cut should be as straight as possible.
Tighten the tube around the cap of the bottle. Roll the cardboard in on itself lengthwise. Fit one open end onto the cap of the
bottle. Attach the tube with tape. Start wrapping the electrical tape around the bottom part of bottle, near the cap. Wind it around,
overlapping the layers, until it also connects to the cardboard handle.

Concept Notes:
Another means of generating an original image is to capture it first as a digital file. Electronic technology can also be seen
in the recording of image using a digital camera or a device with a built in camera, like your mobile phone, android device
or tablet.
• Point and shoot vs. DSLR - type of digital camera which automatically makes all the adjustment in lighting,
focus, zoom in and zoom out, even removal of “red eye” with the user being given some leeway for slight adjustments.
• Digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera - provides the film – less and instant review features of point and shoot.
Many professional photographers believe that the film photography has an authenticity and genuineness to its images that is
lost in the artificial and automatic manipulation of digital photography.
• Mobile phones are used for a variety of purposes, such as keeping in touch with family members, for conducting
business, and in order to have access to a telephone in the event of an emergency. Some people carry more than one mobile
phone for different purposes, such as for business and personal use.
Basic Tips/Techniques of Taking Good Photographs
• Choose a good location.
• Check that the available background is relatively simple.
• Natural light in the outdoors or near a window.
• Avoid taking shots facing the light.
• Position your subject where you want in relation to the location background and source of light.
• If you intend to take a candid shot position yourself where you can capture the most
The indigenous materials commonly found that can be used as an alternative to camera is the pinhole camera.
Pinhole camera is a simple camera without a lens but tiny aperture (the so called pinhole) – effectively a light – proof
box with a small hole in one side. Light from a scene passes
through the aperture and projects an inverted image on the opposite side of the box, which known as the camera
obscure effect.
Activity: Creating a Pinhole Camera
Direction: You can use any alternative materials available at home.
Materials:
Shoebox or similar lidded box
Black paint or black art paper
Small piece of sheet metal
Large needle
Knife
Sandpaper
Light sensitive photo paper
Tape
Scissors
Procedure:
1. Use the needle to punch a tiny hole in the piece of sheet metal. Smoothen the edges of the hole with sandpaper.
2. Cut a small square opening in one side of the box using the knife.
3. Tape the piece of sheet metal over this opening on the inside of the box. Completely seal all edges of the sheet metal
with tape.
4. On the outer side of the opening, make a flap out of scarf cardboard to cover the pinhole in the sheet metal. Secure it
in place with more tape.
5. Bring the box its lid the light sensitive photo paper and tape into a totally dark closet or small room.
6. Carefully unwrap the light sensitive photo paper. Tape the paper on the inner side of the box opposite the pinhole.
7. Put the lid on the box and seal its edges securely with tape on all sides to ensure that no light can seep in.

Intensity – the rate at which the activity is performed. It can be thought of "how hard a person works to do
the activity".
Moderate-Intensity Physical Activity – requires a moderate amount of effort and noticeably accelerates
the heart rate.
Vigorous-Intensity Physical Activity – requires a large amount of effort and causes rapid breathing and
a substantial increase in heart rate.
Here are examples of moderate-intensity and vigorous-intensity physical activities:

Concept Notes:
Hazing-an option to test an “applicant’s” willingness and commitment to the group. Fraternities and sororities, gangs,
and social groups are starting to become more and more identified and publicized. Because of their “alleged” prestige
and prime, more teens are encouraged to be a part of them.On the other hand, hazing is very dangerous, and proven to
have killed many lives.
Republic Act No. 8949 or the Anti-Hazing Lawprotect the youth with this crime. The Act penalizes those who will go
too far during initiation rites wherein the “applicant”is subjected to severe physical and emotional pain and suffering.
Blood Donation–Being proactive citizens of the country, you must willingly help others in ways that will not harm you.
One of the emerging forms of voluntary service. Republic Act No. 7719 or the National Blood Services Act of
1994aims to promote and encourage voluntary blood donation by the citizenry, provide for adequate, safe and affordable
and equitable distribution of blood and blood products. In orderto attain these aims, the Act provisions the establishment
of a Blood services Network which consists of the following:
a.National Council for Blood Services and its various committees
b.Philippine National Blood Services
c.Authorized Blood Collection Units and Facilities
d.Private and Public Hospital Blood Banks and Blood Stations
e.Non-Hospital Health Facilities
f.National Reference Laboratories for Immunology and Immunohematology
