Aperture

• Aperture – priority auto;

• As you choose the aperture your camera chooses the shutter speed.
• Combined with shutter speed you get two main settings which control exposure.
• The aperture is more than just a tool used to adjust the size of the opening in a lens. It is
perhaps the strongest compositional tool in the arsenal of the photographer.
• Something interesting happens when the size of the aperture is changed.
• The smaller the size of the aperture (the larger the f-number), the greater the depth of field
(most of your image will be in focus).
• The larger the aperture, the shallower the depth of field ( less of your image will be in focus).

Rule of thirds
Research

• In photography, the rule of thirds is a type of composition in which

an image is divided evenly into thirds, both horizontally and
vertically, and the subject of the image is placed at the intersection
of those dividing lines, or along one of the lines itself.
https://www.slrlounge.com/glossary/rule-of-thirds-
definition/#:~:text=Description%3A%20In%20photography%2C%20the
%20rule,one%20of%20the%20lines%20itself.
• The rule of thirds is the most well-known composition guideline. It
helps draw the viewer's eye into the image and places more
emphasis on the subject. Ideally, the empty space that's
left should be in the direction the subject is looking or heading into.
The rule of thirds doesn't work 100 percent of the time though.

This is photo is good because the well because we
face is in the middle box and the had good natural
rest of boxes are filled with the lighting

body of the person and I like this photo because

background
every box is filled with a bit
1) 3) of the tree so there is no
space left in the photo

Even though I didn’t take the

photo (luke did) I like this
because the photo shows both
the grid and a skyline

Evaluation
• 1) The theme for the project is different photography elements and in my opinion I
enjoyed because we learnt all different kind of elements and types of photos that I
wouldn’t of known before.
• 2) I found taking the photos the most interesting because before I started this course I
didn’t really take photos using techniques and I found it enjoyable
• 3) well due to me not really knowing the ins and outs of photography every different
techniques was a new experience and except the one where I didn’t use my own photos
I enjoyed them
• 4) I would like to develop aperture further as I helped take a couple of photos on the
day but when it came to putting the photos on PowerPoint I used someone else’s due
to current problems and impatience from myself. So I didn’t use my own photos.
• 5) well in lesson we researched most of the techniques we used so we had an idea of
what we are doing and some help of good places and how to use the technique
effectively.
• 6) they have influenced my photos by giving me ideas of good places to take the photos and
where in college I should take them. They also influence good objects to use when taking
photos for example trees and grass
• 7) I found the rule of thirds most enjoyable because you have to take a photo with in guidelines
but you had also freedom to get it to become apart of the lines.
• 8) In my opinion my actual photos was the most successful because again the ones I did I
thought had a great standard for someone who’s very new to the idea and practical of
photography.
• 9) the problems I had was impatience what I’ve only did once. Another problem is sometimes I
didn’t take as seriously as I should what my photos impacted on it.
• 10) I learnt from this because my photography is better when my mindset is there and if I edit
my photos it will give them more of an professional look the the original photo looks
• 11) if I could do it again I would use different photo shop skills on each photo so then they give
them the next level and I would also research in the techniques even more so I can have more
of an influence towards my photography.
