Situating Yourself on the Political Compass

Objective: To learn your own placement on the political compass and understand why it is important,
as both a student in this course and as a global citizen, to know where you are situated on the
political compass.

Instructions:
1. Go the website www.politicalcompass.org
2. Read through the introductory page and click on the “take the test link” at the bottom.
3. Work slowly through the six pages of questions answering each one honestly. Remember,
there are no right answers. When you finish the questions, click “see where you stand”.
4. Read through your results.
5. Click show chart in separate window. Print your results. You will be referencing these
results later on in the course.
6. Use the P.E.E. Template to answer the following question: Why is it important to know
where you are situated on the political compass?
7. Write a three to six sentence P.E.E. paragraph.
