NCP Case Study

The nursing care plan addresses an elderly client who is worried about who will care for his grandson after his anticipated death from cancer. The plan includes the following: 1) Diagnosing the client with anticipatory grieving related to fears over perceived death and losses. 2) Planning nursing interventions over 2 days to promote self-worth, encourage expression of fears and concerns, and promote family cohesiveness. 3) Expected outcomes are that after 2 days of interventions, the client and family will progress in the grief process by increasing verbalization and appropriately using resources and supports.
