Globalization: Impact and Insights

Globalization has altered how the world operates by diminishing barriers between people and connecting individuals across borders. It has shaped countries into a single economy, government, and culture through increased communication and interaction. While globalization has increased access to goods, services, education and jobs, it has also widened inequality between rich and poor nations. It contributes to environmental damage and allows diseases to spread more easily worldwide. Overall, globalization presents opportunities and challenges that people must learn to navigate.

Globalization has completely altered the way in which the world operates.

The barriers that

once hindered an individual’s ability to communicate and interact with the people across the world have
been diminished. For me, globalization changed and shaped the countries of the world into one
economy, one government, and one culture. Globalization is a complex and unending process. Because
of globalization, we came up with a universal language, English. We also came up with the culture of
different countries and it can be seen in a way we dress, in our type of music, foods, language, etc.
Technology has also a big contribution to globalization because of it; we are able to connect with others.
Through globalization people, services, and goods get to move freely across the world, in a manner that
is linked and smooth.

We can’t deny the fact that globalization has changed the way people see the world. It has
become a road people can tread to discover many possibilities although for some this unknown road can
paint terror and fear.

Let’s first take a look at the positive effects of globalization. First, it allows us to have more
access to goods and services from other countries, we now are able to transport and export goods and
also to travel and visit other places. Second, it influences people to move places in means of education.
It has become convenient for students who want to study to have a better quality of education,
globalization also makes it easier because we can now study online. Third, it opened job opportunities
since many companies have set up businesses all over the world. Fourth, barriers between various
cultures tend to decrease- this has resulted in openness towards other cultures. Through globalization,
information sharing has been improved and its flow all over the world has been heightened. Information
and news worldwide are now accessible to everyone in just a second.

Undeniably, globalization also brought fear and negative impacts on others especially in poor
countries, people who live far from the city, and ethnic groups in the country. Although people
belonging to different countries get a chance to experience other cultures, it can also cause losses of
tradition and values. The most common drawback of globalization is that it is a widening gap between
rich and poor; the rich become richer and the poor become poorer. Globalization also damages the
environment with the increase of production it also leads to the increase of uses in natural resources.
We are also using, trains, planes, ships, cars, and other vehicles that use fossil fuels and emits carbon
dioxide which causes global warming. Globalization inevitably triggers the chance of spreading disease
and viruses worldwide just like what we are facing right now. Because of access to transformation and
open boundaries to other countries the rapid spread of the virus causes a lot of death and loss of
economic to some countries.

The video presented well the idea of globalization and its effect on the economy and
environment. I totally agree with the video presented that globalization just makes the rich become
richer since the main production of globalization started with them, especially to companies and
businesses that transports and exports their good to other countries. Because of globalization, there is
also a big competition in the market because of this some company needs to fluctuate the product
prices which sometimes cannot afford by poor countries. In videos in also shows to the double-edged
sword of globalization when it comes to a job. For example, here in the Philippines, we produce
thousands of nurses and teachers, but almost all of them work in other countries which sometimes leads
us to the lack of nurses and teachers.

The videos explained deeply how globalization affects the economy, politics, and culture which
gave me an insight that globalization is complex and it is can be both positive and negative. I agree with
all the videos presented because whether we like it or not globalization has taken its course, a
commonplace of destination. Unknowingly you are globalized when you adapt changes in society like
the use of cell phones, internet connection, media, and all sorts of modern technology. You are
unknowingly connected to the global world. For me, globalization is intangible with human life and it
should be accepted. It has to take place whether we like it or not. It has taken place so rapidly and
intensely in many forms and we just have to accept it. Just like what the video said, the chain of positive
and negative effects of globalization will continue to grow, but it depends on how people would deal
with all the new possibilities in the future.
