Experiment#11
Objective:Implementation of High Pass filter using an
Inductor.
Apparatus:CRO, Function generator,inductor,resistor.
RL Series circuit:
•A Circuit in which a resistor and a inductor are connected in series with
the Voltage/Current source it is called RL Series circuit.
•A filter is a circuit that is designed to pass signals with desired
frequencies and reject or attenuate others.
A highpass filter passes high frequencies and rejects low frequencies.
•A highpass filter is designed to pass all frequencies above its cutoff
frequency.
•The half-power frequency, which is
equivalent to the corner frequency on the Bode plots but in the context
of filters is usually known as the cutoff frequency is obtained
by setting the magnitude of H(ῳ) equal to 0.707.
•Where H(ῳ) is transfer function.
Procedure:
•We set the apparatus according to the given circuit in fig(11.1).
•We gave voltage of 10v to the circuit.
•Then find the cutoff frequency at 7.2 volt which was 70% of maximum
value.
•Then we take different values of voltage at different frequencies.
•We calculate the transfer function by using formula V0/Vin.
•Also calculate the values of V0/Vin in db(desi bel).
•We also saw the wave form on CRO
•Cutoff frequency is 158kHz
•Input voltage = 10V

Wave form of High Pass filter:
Graph between frequency and transfer function
Results:
We learnt that how high pas filter works and blocks low frequencies .
