Fashion Sketching
FASHION SKETCHING 2
Introduction
Every person desires to look good and wants to feel ‘accepted’ in society and for
this reason everyone try to follow the fashion of the time. It’s just a style of living, the
style of looking different.
Though, we know that to be updated and to go with society is a need to bring
some kind o f changes in our outlook and physica l attitude s which makes us confident
and admirable.
Fashion is about expressing your identity, showing someone who you are through
your fashion choices and using your clothes to tell someone something about you. And
for this reason people go to fashion designers to s ketch them dresses according to their
taste and it helps them to show a c oncept of dress that they will share it, so with that
they will show their personality.
Sketching gives you a basic outline and concept tha t can be shared. Imagine you
need a dress for a wedding. You can sketch what dress should be before to sew a
tailor so in that way his mind will be clearly how to sew it.

Fashion Illustrator
Fashion illustrator are people who love fashion and study about it, they sketch
designs becasuse it is the most important skill. They presents their collection and
promote their lables, they know how to experiment effectively with colour, how to use
art materials and equipment.
But to be a fashion illustrator you should have a creative eye, they need to have a
strong sense of creativity and artistic vision. They give a very pleasing look making their
creation unique and make it look better than the best which is there already.
Fashion illustrator explores how artists find I nspiration in th e world around them and
how they use the inspiration in the creation of their work. I believe that fashion
designers should take e sketchnotes with themselves because they don’t know where
can have an inspiration to sketch a mode l because in that moment you can do
something magical that you may never have the inspiration to do it again. Because the
inspiration can be found through tavel, music, television, film, museum and gallery visits.
Illustrations are in a huge connection with art movements, f ashion trends and
photography. Beauty canons dectate the rules for illustrators bu t there is always space
for flights of imagination. However there is no other way for fashion to be produced
without Illustrations. That means until the fashion exists, the fashion Illustrations will
appear again and again…

Rene Bouche
One of the most famous fashion illustrators is Rene Bouche. He had a firm and
accurate drawing style that derived from strict observation, and his Image often
appeared spread across double-page Vogue editorials. Bouche had a strong sense of
colour and he passed on his knowledge of fashion illustration students at the Parson’s
School of Design in New York, where he taught during the forties.
Bouche is not one to portray the bellhop or the country maid, but flies straight to
the inmost circle of society, where the crustiest tycoon really do unbend, all wives are
beautiful, and well-tailored bohemians are welcome. I n a sense, he adores the lions and
tigresses of a wordls often so polite tha it Is rude, and so frantic that it is bored.

Fashion Sketch
Why we should be sketching?
What a sketch does is give you an idea of where the design might be headed. Sketch helps
you to develop a concept quickly, gives you a basic outline than can be s hared.
Sketching does a variety of things when it come to the creative process. It is one of the
most purest forms of brainstorming for designers because you can create a quick, simple,
inexpensive visuals that can be shared with others.
Fashion sketches are the first product that an apparel maufactorer selects before designing a
complete product. These sketches are useful in making selections between the right fabric and
right material that are a must for the c reation of any product.
For an artist, sketching is the most uninhabited and f ree-est form of the creative process.
Sketching is an ar t form in itself and gives insight into the artist’s soul. While sketchbook
journals are often shared, they can also be kept personal like a diary.
Also from the sketching other people can understand what he wants, what he needs , or the
lack of things from his design because the designer transcribes his ideas into real shapes and
forms in the shape of sketches. So without the drawing, the thought of the structure will still
be vague and folks canno t understand it.
Not many people e realize that the drawin g skill is also important. The custom made should
be able to draw sketches in particulars. If they want to be able to do so, t hey need to
understand human anatomy.

FASHION SKETCHING 12
The story of fashion is o ne of change. Different drawing styles have emerged encouraged
by the development of new media.
Some people think design is all pretty flourishes but it’s not about a lot more thanthat:
design encompasses not just the visual appereance of a thing, but also the intent behind it,
and the experience of being exposed to it.
“Art should be like a good game of baseball-non-monumental, democratic and humble.
With no hits, no runs, and no errors at the bottom of the ninth, we know something
historica l is happening. Good art l eaves no r esidue”(Siah Armajani, 1985)
