Teaching with Technology Statement
Technology is all around us, and it has a place in every classroom and school. It can help
students and teachers in many different ways. Technology is always improving and changing so
it is important that our education systems grow with it. I plan on using technology in all of my
classes. It will be used to help students understand what they are learning, connect with other
students, stay engaged, and more. Technology is the future and so are our students, so it is
important that we help our students understand how to use technology properly and safely.
I plan on using technology in many different ways in my classes. I will be teaching
business, economics, accounting, and marketing, so for all of these classes’ students will be
using technology in different and similar ways. I have learned so many different ways of
teaching with technology from the EDCI 410 course. It has helped me develop my teaching
strategy with technology. I will use many of the assignments we have created in this course for
my future students.
My marketing students will create their own website for the business they develop over a
semester. I will use the map assignment we created to help my business students discover and
understand how different countries and cultures run businesses differently. I will use Kahoot and
Quizlet to challenge my students with the information they are learning. Technology can be used
in so many ways in the classroom. When using technology technical difficulties can arise, I plan
on researching the technology I am using in class before, so if something does happen, I have
background knowledge on how to fix it. I will also have a backup plan if the technology is not
working to keep the lesson going.
Technology can be connected with the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) by making
sure students are engaged, there are multiple forms of representation, and there are multiple
forms of action and expression. Engagement can happen through using new and interesting
forms of technology. Students can work with one and other. They also can have input on what
technology we use. For representation to be met, the websites/digital media can be read aloud
from myself, students, or the technology being used. Students will receive background
information about the technology and what they will be learning from the technology. Action
and Expression will be met through, using different types of technology, using goals and
planning to develop the background information for using the technology. Students will be able
to check with themselves to make sure they are on the right track with the instruction and
information I provide them.
The Danielson Framework for Teaching can be met in many different ways depending
how and what technology is being used. Planning and preparation is met because using
technology in the classroom takes time to plan and to make sure that the students are ready for
the activity. It also takes time to make sure that the technology is setup correctly. The classroom
environment will be completed by creating teacher interaction with students and student
interaction with each other. It allows students to work with one and other showing different
groups what they completed with their use of technology. I will discuss with students what
technology we will be using and how we will use it. I will also be walking around the room to
answer questions and help when needed. The instruction is completed by engaging students in
the activities and assignments. I will also make sure the directions are giving verbally as well as
written. The professional responsibility is met because when students be creative when working
with the technology. The directions will help students know if they are completing the activities
correctly.
In business, marketing, accounting, and economics knowing how to effectively use
technology is important. People going into these fields need to know how to use technology so
they can be hired. I will be making sure to include digital citizenship learning into my lessons.
Students need to be ready for what happens after high school, and to do so they need to know
how to use technology. I will provide feedback and real-world knowledge about technology that
will help students be successful now and in their future.
I want to be able to lead students to new technology to do so I have to know what
changes are happening and what new technology has been developed. I plan on researching
monthly about new technology that can be helpful in the classroom, so I can stay up to date with
new ways to help students learn. I also will look for new blogs, videos, and more to help keep me
updated and see what can be helpful for the students. I think it is important to also meet with
other teacher and see what technology they have found and/or using. I will also ask students if
they have any new blog, websites, technology, and more that they found interesting and related
to work they are learning. It is important for students to have input as well.
Technology needs and should have a place in every classroom. I don’t think it all has to
be used every day, but there is a time and place for it. As teachers we can show students how to
use technology properly, safely, and to educate. I plan on using technology in many different
ways in my classroom. I am thankful for the EDCI 410 course because it has introduced me to so
many different ways of using technology that I never thought of. I am happy to say that I can
take many of the assignments and use them in my classroom one day.
