Rom coms
“People love what other people are passionate about” La La Land. How do romantic
comedies (rom coms) bring hope and inspiration to young teens? Most of teens love rom coms,
they inspire teens to go out and be adventurous. A sum of the rom com movies has adventures
and cute dates between the main couple. This gives teens ideas on what kind of dates would be
fun and things they would like to do or try. This inspires teens to get out of bed and to us that
they have seen in movies. Romantic comedies are an important source of hope and inspiration to
teens because they encourage people to believe in destiny.
To start off, teens are inspired by rom coms, and they want recreate the sense in the
movie. Most teens from ages 15-19 start watching these romantic movies and they want to copy
the movie, not exactly but remarkably like what happens. A bunch teen want love like the
movies and just want a picture-perfect date that they can tell their friends about. Movies like
these provide a hope that someday everyone will get a significant other who will dance in the
moonlight and kiss them in the rain. Hope is the one feeling everyone can relate to, and everyone
hopes to find the one person that fits best with themselves. Women watch rom-coms to learn
about love and to see what it is like (Hefner). All these rom coms give hope and inspiration.
Additionally, watching romantic comedies helps teens take risks and believe that there is
someone out there who will love and cherish them forever. Most rom-coms have a love plot with

cute dates and funny moments that really bring the story together. These movies encourage
emotional investment in the characters and reward us for that devotion. A surfeit of people
recreates these dates or funny sense between them and their significant others(Sicardi). Everyone
has their person it is just finding them is the hard part, rom-coms help girls find their one and
only. Girls watch these rom coms movies to know what it is like to have a true love. Therefore,
rom coms are one of the best types of movies because they help girls out.
On the other hand, some teens think rom-coms are cheesy and unrealistic. This may be true for
some but not all. Numerous teens think that rom coms are repetitive and the same story every
time. However, these viewers do not even give the movie a chance to surprise them. Romantic
comedies create unrealistic expectations, but we do not have to buy into them (Davis). Most
rom-coms have different plots and different endings, but most do have a realistic ending. There
are more people who like rom-coms then people who do not.
Nevertheless, most teen boys are to manly this type of movie. Boys usually watch rom-
coms when they are with a significant other or their family. A great deal of teenage boys are “too
manly” to watch “girly” movies but, will still watch them with the right person. All men do not
think they would like a rom-com but, they do not realize they do. All men want close male
friendships that are featured in films with Seth Rogan, Jay Baruchel, or any Adam Sandler
(Carlson). Therefore rom-com are not to girly for men.
To conclude, romantic comedies are an important source of hope and inspiration to
teens because they encourage people to take risks and continue to believe in destiny. Teens are
inspired by rom-coms, and they try to copy the scenes form the movies. Watching rom-coms
helps teens take risks and believe that there is someone out there who will love and cherish them

forever. Rom-coms will forever be underrated. These are the best movies out there when you
give them the power to be.
