Neil Chester C. Hernaez: Even If Others Are Not Even If Others Will Not Even If Others Cannot

The document contains two problems about air conditioning systems for an auditorium. Problem 1 asks to determine the refrigeration load and apparatus dew point temperature given sensible and latent heat gains and supply air conditions. Problem 2 asks to determine the recirculated air flow rate, apparatus dew point temperature, and refrigeration load given sensible and latent heat gains, supply air conditions, and a percentage of fresh air.

INSTRUCTION: Solve the following problems, correctly and systematically, and show all the necessary figures.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prob. # 6] In an auditorium the sensible heat entering is 96 kW and the latent heat is 38.4 kW. Outside
air ar 33 C DB and 25 C WB. The supply air enters at 18 C and the auditorium is to be maintained at 25
C DB and 18 C WB. If 30 % of the fan capacity is fresh air and the by-pass system is used. Determine:

a. the refrigeration load; and

b. the apparatus dew point temperature.

Prob. # 7] An air-conditioned auditorium with a capacity of 1 000 persons is to be maintained at 24 C

DB and 55 % RH. The sensible heat gain is 115 kW and the latent heat gain is 42 kW. The conditioned
air enters the auditorium at 17 C. For proper ventilation, 40 % of the supply air is fresh air and the rest
is recirculated air. Outdoor air is at 34 C DB and 50 % RH. Determine:

a. the volume flow rate of the recirculated air;

b. the apparatus dew-point temperature; and
c. the refrigeration load
