1. Fractions – it is basically number of equal parts of a unit.

Fraction can be represent a


point on a line, a portion of a set, a division and a ratio. For example the fraction five-
sevenths which can be write as 5/7.

2. Decimal numbers – the numbers containing digits after the decimal point is known as
decimal numbers. Subsequently a tenth and a hundredth are what you get if divide a unit
into ten and a hundred equivalent parts. It keep on that one unit can be replaced for 10
tens and one tenth can be replaced for 10 hundredth. For example, we have 3.456 that
represents 6 thousandths, 5 hundredths, 4 tenths and 3 units.

3. Percentages – it refers to “per hundred” and the % sign is read as a percentage and x %
is read as x percent. In other words, the denominator of 100 is called a percentage. For
example, 20% means 20/100 (that is, 20 parts of 100). This can also be written as 0.2.

Connection

Fractions are percentages, and fraction and decimals are inter linked with each other directly, a
percentage is a ration that can be written as fraction while fraction can be written in the form of
decimals.
