video that can be made out of it.

Fast motion- 10-15 fps

WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER- VIDEO EDITING PROCESS

Video editing is the process of making or enhancing a video through various processes. The following
are required to edit a video-

1. Movie/ Video clip/ pictures

2. Video editing software
3. Audio

Movie/ video clip / picture:

The main component involved in the editing is the video itself. It has to be taken on a particular
resolution and frame depending on the movie concept. When a picture is added to a video, it has to
be of the same resolution as the video, so that it is of even pixelation. If not, the picture will be
pixelated or out of proportion.
Video editing software :

Video editing software is the platform for assembling and editing of the video from the collected
material, based on our sensibilities and the desired outcome. A few commonly used softwares for
video editing are

1. Windows movie maker

2. Sony Vegas Pro
3. Adobe Premiere Pro
4. Pinnacle Studio
5. Avid DS
6. VirtualDub
7. Adobe After effects

AUDIO

When a voice or background music has to be added to the picture, a separate audio file has to be
added to the movie.

Audio files can be imported with the home tab- clicking “add music” and selecting the desired audio
file in the pop up window that opens. By clicking open the audio is added to the video.

By clicking the options tab, we get icons that allow us to time and sync the music placement, control
its volume, split or fade it in and out.

IMPORTING FILES

To import .wmv or .avi file or MPG file , go to home- add photos and videos. Select the files you want
to import, and click open on the dialogue box. ( avi is audio video interleaved).

To import pictures and videos from an external device, go to file menu - Select import from device
option- select the file you want to import and click on “open”- the selected file will get imported.

SEQUENCING

The pictures and videos are sequenced by default in the order that they were imported. To change
the order/ sequence, each image/video may be individually selected, and manually drag-and-
dropped at the desired point on the timeframe displayed on the right side .

CUTTING/ TRIMMING

To remove unwanted scenes, or to decrease the length of the video, specific scenes or parts of
scenes or pictures are cut out of it. This process is known as cutting.

Reducing the number of scenes, or adjusting the scenes to obtain the required duration is known as
trimming.
Trimming can be done by right clicking on the file and splitting the video into segments that can be
removed or rearranged individually.

EDITING

By going to the edit tab, we can increase/decrease the speed of the video being played, or add
fading in or fading out options. We can split or trim the video and time the changes with the editing
options.

In the visual effects tab, various filters, motions and fades are available which can be applied
individually to scenes and photos or en masse to the video. The animations tab has many animation
options that can be used to make the video and transitions interesting.

TEXT

Windows movie maker allows us through the home tab to add title, caption and credits for the
videos. To edit the properties, placement and entry (animation) of texts, their entry time and text
duration, we have to use the tools in the format tab.

ASPECT RATIO

The aspect ratio – standard 4::3 or widescreen 16:9 – can be selected through the project tab. The
“fit to music” option in project tab allows us to fit the video duration to match the playing length of
the audio file.

PHOTOSHOP- POSTER MAKING PROCESS

1. Open photoshop. Go to file – new- name your new file and set paper size as desired. For a
client poster , we may take the size as A3 in landscape.
2. Unlock the background layer from the layer manager.
3. Each object – like the drawings ( plans, sections, elevations) , 3d views, and other image
objects can be imported by opening them in photohsop and either dragging and dropping
them onto the work interface or duplicating the layer into the current working file.
4. If you want to import only part of an image file, you may select the desired area alone by
marquee tool, magic wand tool, lasso, magnetic lasso or polygonal lasso tools.

IMAGE FORMATS
1. Raster formats: JPEG, EXIF, TIFF, RIF, GIF, BMP, PNG, and lots more
2. Vector formats: SVG (Scaleable Vector Graphic, most common), CGM
COLOR MODE- & ITS USES IN IMAGE DITING

A color mode determines the color model used to display and print images. Photoshop
bases its color modes on established models for describing and reproducing color.
Common models include HSB (hue, saturation, brightness); RGB (red, green, blue);
CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black);

In addition to determining the number of colors that can be displayed in an image,

color modes affect the number of channels and the file size of an image.

SMART OBJECTS

Smart Objects are layers that contain image data from raster or vector images, such as
Photoshop or Illustrator files. Smart Objects preserve an image's source content with
all its original characteristics, enabling you to perform non-destructive editing to
the layer.
