Topic: Human behavior: feelings and emotions
“What do you feel?”
Human beings experience different types of emotions and feelings as we
react to our thoughts and triggers from others and the outside world. Some estimates
show that we can express up to 1000 nuances of emotion.
Identifying and labeling your emotions and feelings as you experience them
can be helpful when you want to figure out which emotional states you slip into
under various circumstances, which states support feelings of well-being, and which
ones inhibit you socially, mentally, and even spiritually. From there, you can
identify which types of emotional self-care you need to practice in the situation you
are experiencing to restore equilibrium.
We tend to classify and judge emotional states as positive or negative, but
that is not accurate. The energy moving through us is neither good nor bad. For
example, joy may be considered desirable and sadness undesirable, even if sadness
is the most appropriate response. Feeling anger when violated is a normal,
instinctual response. How you choose to behave when angry is another story.
There is also some confusion about whether emotions and feelings are the
same thing. We often use the words interchangeably, showing just how intertwined
the mindbody connection is. Emotions and feelings may be intimately connected,
but they are not the same thing. They occur in different regions of the brain.
Identify the differences between feelings and emotions.
Imagine and describe the situations where you would show these emotions:
Happiness
Sadness
Fear
Disgust
Anger
Surprise
Embarrassment
Guilt
Pride in achievement
Shame

“Bitter truth or sweet lie”
We live in a world filled with deceptive practices in everything from
advertising to relationships. Most people would be shocked at the amount of lies
that assault their ears each day! We live in a world where honesty is not always the
best policy, while a convincing lie is the normal practice.

Many psychologists describe men and women as two completely opposite
species that should coexist in our world. Yes, that’s true – we react and treat
situations in various ways, we often don’t coincide at all – and it’s natural, it’s
something we cannot change, but can and must accept, expect and respect to build
strong harmonious relationships.

“Is family important?”
Nowadays people don't pay much attention to their families. Often they
prefer a successful career, travels and much more.
Why is it so important to have a family?
Family values are the foundation of a family which is formed by customs,
traditions and relationship patterns. All these are passed on from older to younger
generations, changing from time to time, but the basic family values always remain
the same. A family cannot exist without a certain set of values, and family values
lose their meaning if the family unit is not created.

Topic: “Fashion, culture, identity and consumerism”
“Following fashion, as a manifestation of individuality or imitation”
Fashion trends are based on consumer preferences, morality and the level of
development of society in a specific period of time. Fashion changes depending on
the seasons and moods in society. We can safely say that it is a mirror reflecting
society.
By following their needs, people grab onto innovation to fulfill their
aspirations and stand out from the crowd. Fashion promotes self-affirmation, but the
paradoxical fact is that the higher the interest in fashion, the more self-doubt is
manifested in a person, since “the mass of the individual conscious personality
disappears”.
Today, fashion has no definite boundaries and functions. It can serve as a
way to demonstrate social status, be a form of self-realization, a creative "release of
energy" or simply a psychotherapeutic tool. Clothes often provide, among other
things, psychological comfort, which is especially in demand in modern society.

Topic: “Modern communication”
“Netiquette”
Progress is moving forward by leaps and bounds. Until recently, the
computer was mainly used for work or play. And we had no communication
problems. We spent half our lives in lines, traveling. Only one drawback - with
friends from other cities and countries, we called up once every six months. And
only for five minutes, otherwise we then received an invoice with six-digit amounts.
Today, thanks to the development of technology, it has become possible to
make purchases in online stores, solve a number of administrative issues and, of
course, actively communicate on the Internet. And there is no need to go out, visit a

sleepiness affects their performance and mood.
Others dream of sleep as a luxury. Such people know that they feel better
when they get enough sleep and look like a broken trough after a sleepless night.
This is because proper sleep actually improves memory and active brain activity.
Without proper rest, it is impossible to do what you want - neither physically nor
mentally. Many factories run out of business all week can sleep off over the

Prohibition, which has been in effect in the United States for 13 years, has,
as you know, brought the country much more problems and disappointments than
positive and improved health of the nation. Memories of those times were not very
bright: America both drank before the Prohibition, and continued during and after.
The only positive moment that the chroniclers of those times remember is
probably the emergence of cocktails. True, they began to mix them not because of a
good life, but only then to cover up the disgusting taste of contraband (or
homemade) alcohol with pleasant ingredients, which could kill before forming the
habit of “consuming”.
The experience of the Americans - although it did not teach humanity
anything - turned out to be an infectious thing: many countries are still testing their
options for fighting the "green serpent".

Ответ:
«MY IDEAL DAILY ROUTINE
I'm a firm advocate and believer in that. It's long been touted that if you win
the morning, you win the day.
In the morning, you need to recharge your energy, so my morning starts
with physical activity. I used to run in the morning, but now I don't have time for it
yet. But every day I wake up at 5: 30-6: 00 in the morning and do exercises with
stretching elements. After charging, I hold a plank pose for a minute three times.
Only then do I go to wash my face and brush my teeth. To start digestion, I
always drink a glass of water on an empty stomach. To recharge my positive
energy, I perform several spiritual practices. Affirmations are positively charged
affirmations, thanks, and visualizations of the goals I'm aiming for. I also love
breakfast, every day I cook it with great pleasure and enjoy the morning silence.
Every evening, I write a plan for the next day, so after my morning rituals, I
know what to do during the day. Writing a plan helps me better navigate my
business and get much more done than I would without it. I also read different
books and train during the day.
I believe that the key to an ideal day is a productive morning, planning, and
sufficient rest between tasks.Adequate sleep and daily routines are also important
factors for performance and mood throughout the day. Our body needs rest and
sleep should be mandatory at night.». Александра.
«During the study-time my everyday routine is a real humdrum. I just wake
up, drink a cup of coffee, and go to the Uni, then do some work. It's a vicious circle.
But now when I have less classes, when I don't have to wake up early my
everyday habits are changing. And continue to stay the same until Uni burst into life
again.
OK. I wake up at 8. It is early for me but in summer it is a pleasure to wake
up until it is too hot. I drink a cup of coffee and go to the gym. I spend about an
hour there and go home to have an every day “stand up call” at work. Then I cook
my breakfast. It’s difficult to call it breakfast but I don't like eating just when I open
my eyes in the morning. I keep a healthy way of style and my breakfast always
stays the same. It is oatmeal with different fruits.
Then I do my work, have some calls with colleagues. I finish my work at
approximately 18 and have my free time.
Difficult to say what I do then because every day is different. Sometimes I
go out with my friend/friends, watch films, do a hobby, or read a book. I like being
busy and i can't spend my day just lying on the sofa and eating.» Полина.
«MY IDEAL DAILY ROUTINE
9 a.m - i sleep
11 a.m - I sleep
12 a.m. - I'm on the phone
1 p.m. sweet sleep
3 p.m - time to eat
5 p.m. - film time
7 p.m - tik tok time
9 p.m - tik tok time
11 p.m. sweet sleep
I start my morning early at 7 am. My day starts with yoga and exercise. After
that, I go to a refreshing shower.
Then I write spokespeople for the most important plans for the day. Since there
is maximum brain activity in the morning, I try to learn something new, for example
English.
Then at 10 am I start my first meal. This is oatmeal with almond milk or toast
with red fish and poached egg.
I try to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Then from 11 am to 4 pm I do the work tasks that are the most important in my
plan. These are mainly studies and some work tasks.
After intense brain activity, I relax, turn on mantras, meditate, drink freshly
squeezed juice.
Towards evening, I try to make time for my family and friends. I go to the
cinema or sit in a cafe.
I end my day with the gratitude of the universe. I take a shower and read a book
before bed.
In my normal daily routine, I would like to devote more time to rest, because I
work very hard and drink more water, and then my daily routine is perfect.
I believe that it is very important to start your day right, because in the morning
you create a positive mood for yourself for the whole day.» Вера.

“Is face-ism spoiling your life?”
Each of you has had a situation when the first impression of a person let you
down.
Unlike most kinds of prejudices, we are both the victims and the villains of
face-ism: everyone will have judged someone else unfairly, based on their
appearance, and we’ve all been judged in return.
Read the article.
https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20150707-is-faceism-spoiling-your-life
Based on the material in the article, give a definition of "Face-ism".
Imagine the situation: You are the CEO of a prestigious company. You are
on the lookout for an employee for a management position. You are faced with a
choice between two decent people. The first is an employee who is self-confident,
charismatic, has leadership qualities, and is self-assured, but not particularly
intelligent. The second has a flexible mind, a lot of experience, two university
degrees, highly skilled, but he possesses no leadership qualities and is quiet and
unnoticeable.
How would you act in this situation? Who would you choose? Why?

«Faсe-ism – is the attribution of certain qualities to a person because of his
appearance. These prejudices can affect a person's life and career, and more
beautiful and friendly facial features can serve as an advantage in many cases,
including lawsuits. And hostile and negative traits can harm a person in their career
or in their progress through life.
I would choose a second employee, charisma and leadership are very good
qualities, but for lack of intelligence and qualifications, you will not last long. I
believe that any qualities can be developed, it is only a matter of time and the
amount of effort invested. Therefore, I choose a second employee, with the prospect
of developing the missing qualities during the working process through various
work to improve skills.» Александра.
«The term "face-ism" was initially defined in a 1983 study in which facial
prominence was measured by a "Face-ism index", which is the ratio of two linear
measurements, with the distance from the top of the head to the lowest visible point
of the chin being the numerator and the distance from the top of the head to the
lowest visible part of the body the denominator. It was found that across societies
and time, facial prominence of men has been much higher than that of women.
First of all, I would say that I would be a bad boss, since it is very difficult
to make such decisions, due to the possibility of one of the employees being
deceived.
And this situation is very sensitive.
So we have two employees, one charismatic, self-confident, but not very
smart, the second is smart, calculating, but quiet and timid.
And I would do a very extraordinary thing. For one week, maybe two, I am
appointing a charismatic person with leadership qualities to a leadership position. In
most cases, too much self-confidence and leads to stupidity and not listening to your
colleagues. Knowing this, we can conclude that a person will screw up sooner or
later. I think 2 weeks will be enough.
After he messes up, a quiet and shy person who knows the solution to this
problem becomes the head of the department. But it will be easier for him to do
everything himself, since there are no leadership qualities here. And then, in order
to solve the problem, I appoint to the post of the deputy, that self-confident leader,
with a note that he has a chance to become the head of the department again. And
then they start working together.
You will say, but one may be angry with the other, for the fact that he took
his place. Yes, but if you swap them along the way, that is, change them with meta
every six months, then the conflict will be settled. + they will become an ideal
team.»
«Face-ism focuses on a person's appearance. If we talk about the proposed situation,
then I would take both employees, but on a trial period, teach them everything you
need to know and be able to, and then see who copes better with the tasks. To the
one who did worse, I would explain all his mistakes and why we can't hire him.»
