An active shooter is defined as an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined area using firearms. If an active shooter situation occurs, the following actions are recommended: 1. Run and evacuate the area if possible. Leave belongings and keep your hands visible. 2. Hide in an area out of the shooter's view and lock or block entry points if evacuation is not possible. Silence phones. 3. Fight as an absolute last resort if your life is in danger. Attempt to incapacitate the shooter with aggression and thrown items. Provide law enforcement with location and description details about the shooter when contacting 911.
