Meningitis

Meningitis can affect people of any age but babies under 2 are at highest risk due to less developed immune systems. Symptoms can include sudden high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, and rash. Meningitis is inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. A doctor can diagnose it based on medical history, exam, and tests like blood tests, spinal tap, or CT scans. Treatment depends on the type - bacterial meningitis requires immediate antibiotics while viral may improve on its own in weeks with rest and fluids.
