Sarung Banggi means “one night” or “one evening”. It was composed
about 1910 by Potenciano V. Gregorio.

DANCE
Lapay Bantague is a mimetic dance that refers to lapay or sea gulls which are
bountiful in Bantague, a coastal province of Masbate. Similar to the Kalapati
(dove) and Itik-itik (ducks), it copies the movements of the gulls like overly
bending back till the head is near the floor.

THEATER
Hablon is derived from the Bicol verb ‘habol’ which means “to
weave”. Hablon is also a well-known character in the Ibalong epic-
fragment who invented the weaving process and later on taught this to
the natives

VISUAL ARTS
Highly acclaimed Bicolano painter Pancho Piano has shared several
images of his series of paintings featuring Our lady of Penafrancia
on her feast day.

FILMS
Hinulid (The Sorrows of Sita) was one of the entries at
the 2016 Cinema International Film Festival Circle
CompetItion.
