At the beginning of the quarter, I was really intrigued with this subject.
This gave me the first impression
of a 'chill' subject, because unlike the other subjects the requirement for the first week was just to
introduce ourselves and join the first session. As the quarter progresses, through this subject I have
gained some insights on how it is to be an adult, managing your own finances.
This subject taught me about practical things that would really be helpful when the time comes that I
decide to become financially independent. With the lessons offered and taught to us by our teacher, I
started to really think about adulating stuff and be serious about this matter. As a third year student, it is
not long before we are set out to the world, where we would find jobs and earn our own money, so
being able to know the basics on how to manage this aspect of our lives is a privilege that I am most
thankful that is given to us. I have seen many people around me, working or earning their own money,
but they still struggle, it is because of the lack of proper financial management, and as early as now, we
were already given an insight on how not to end up like this.
The most notable thing that I have gained during the course of our lessons is about saving and
investment. In this lesson we were enlightened on how important it is to have savings, to have
something kept aside from our income from our jobs. We were also presented different kinds of
investment wherein we can have our money invested in to give us extra income which will be helpful in
the future, when there are emergency expenses and the like.
So, as a closing, I would just like to thank our teacher for imparting her knowledge to us regarding these
kinds of matters. It was a fun and enjoyable learning. I would also like to acknowledge the fact that
personal financial management depends on the person, and each and every one of us matures
differently from one another and that each profession earns differently from the other. It doesn't mean
that there is this person who already works fails to do so, then he or she is already a failure, this can be a
process and time will come that he or she will be able to properly manage his or her finances. As they all
say, just trust the process. Personal Finance is not only a subject that required in the curriculum that we
are in, but I realized that this is a requirement for us in real life. It's taught me that we do not just seek
financial freedom, but financial stability as well.
