INSTRUCTION FOR INSTALLATION
1. General

The complete assembled crane is to be delivered in one piece and additional equipment
to be mounted at site after mounting the runway beam structure as follows:

g 2 pcs of actuator for limit switch

g 2 pcs of junction box with terminals, earth clamps and cable glands
g 4 pcs of travel stoppers

Before installation of crane be started, the runway arrangement has to be manufactured

and mounted according to drawing.
Special precaution should be taken to ensure that the runway beam will be straight.

2. Install crane on runway

Remove crane drive shaft w/pinion/bearing from side plate. Crane can now be lifted into
beam. Replace the shaft w/pinion and bearing.

It is important to secure the crane to runway until end stops are installed acc. to drawing.

Check that the backlash between pinion and rack is correctly in full length of the runway
beam.

General rule: The pinion should be in properly engagement, but check by hand that it is
free to move.

Connect the crane electrically to the power source on ship and assemble on a plug for
push button station on each side.

Mount the limit switch actuators, and adjust limit switches!

Check the following:

Check clearance between item 1 and limit switch (see fig next page), adjust if necessary
(clearance setting 1-2mm).

If necessary adjust the bolt item 2(see fig below), until the limit switch is activated.

Re-tighten the lock nut.

OVERLOAD SWITCH

Before use

Check that all functions of the crane is operating properly.

Run the crane carefully full length of the runway, and check that there is no obstacles,

 and that the travel wheels and guide rollers runs easily over full length of travel, and that
the backlash between pinion and gear rack is correctly.

Also; check that the limit switches for travelling is being activated at both ends of the
runway.

Care should be taken to ensure that suspended cable on the crane, does not fault, or get
caught on brackets, or building obstacles.

Make a final check of oil connection bolts for tightness.

Overload test

Overload test to be carried out by using 125%SWL=3.75 ton.

As stated before, the crane is adjusted to handle 125%SWL from factory. After the overload
test is completed both overload switches must be adjusted to handle SWL.

Runway beam installation

Runway beam shall be made and installed according to dwg no D330-02-0 and under the
inspection of a competent person.

INSTRUCTION FOR OPERATION

1. Safety precautions

Prior to start up and operation of the crane, the following safety precautions have to be
adhered to:

g Check that unauthorised personnel keep clear of the area before start up. This is also valid
during all crane operations.

2. Cleaning and drying prior to start up

All parts must be inspected and the required cleaning must be carried out.
Special attention must be paid to the electrical system.

If the heating elements have not been activated, electrical motors and panels must be
heated and dried before start up.
The heating must be continued uninterrupted for 48 hrs. Before the motors should be
driven.

3. Crane operation

The crane is completely operated from a pendant control push button station.
All crane movement symbols are shown on the push button station.

STOP Pushbutton for main power and emergency switch to the crane
Main power on by turning and pull
Main power off/emergency stop by push
START Push button to start operation of the crane
HOIST Port and starboard hoists controlled by which side of the ship you are
connected to
TRAVEL Port and starboard travel of the crane by two separate push buttons

4. Crane shut down/restart

The provision crane should be shut down after use, only from the push button station by
pushing the STOP button.
This is to ensure operation of the hearing elements in the motors and in the electrical
panel.
Failure to shut down, or by disconnecting the power to the crane supplied from ship, the
cleaning and drying procedure prior to start up must be repeated to ensure dried conditions.
Restart the crane by turning/pulling the STOP button.

Important Note:
The motors and el. panel are equipped with heater elements to prevent water
condensation. This is therefore very important to keep the main switch in on position
all the time.

5. Consequences of misuse

It is of great importance that the crane is operated in accordance with the operating
procedure.
