This is a fabulous track, and one that works well on the guitar.
As usual, the guitar chords are chosen to reflect the overall
harmonies, and they aim to capture the key parts from the bass,
keyboards and guitars.
A few simplifications of the rich keyboard chords have had to be
made in order to give playable shapes on the guitar, but for the
most part the chords below are the same as those on the original
track.
Many of the chords such as C/D, D/E are played as Cmaj7/D or
Dmaj7/E in the keyboard part of the original track. To my ears,
the simpler D/E is the best choice on the guitar, but you can vary
these shapes by alternating with the maj7 version. For example,
where the transcription indicates D/E (x7x775), you can alternate
this with Dmaj7/E (x 7 11 7 7 x).
All chord shapes are given at the end.

I went through this file recently and made a few small changes.
In particular, the A7#5 chord ("you were high") and the Csus2/Eb
("they saw your face") sound right now. What I had previously
(A7#9 and Bb/Eb) were close, but not quite right...

Intro:

The guitar and bass parts below are played together - the bass part
works fairly well if played on a second guitar. For the guitar part,
let the two-note hammer-on (in the first 4 bars) and the strummed
chord (next 4 bars) sustain for as long as possible.
The guitar hammer-on at the 17th fret can also be played an octave
lower (5th to 8th frets). For authenticity, you should play the hammer
on at the 17th fret, but for convenience you may prefer to play it
at the 5th fret.

For the first few lines of the verse (and again later), the
guitar figure uses a sliding triad shape, as shown below:

This is played twice during the sections marked "C9(no 3rd)" below.
(The triad moves from Gm to an Am - with the C bass this gives a
C9 to C6 feel).
You need another instrument to play the C bass for the figure to work
properly. For a single guitar, strumming the C9(no 3rd) shape is the
best way to get the flavour of the part.

Don't be put off beacause there are a lot of shapes - there are some
unusual chords, but quite a few are just the same shape appearing at
different positions on the neck (e.g Bb9, B9, C9). Some chords use two
different shapes - these are indicated as C/D, C/D(2) etc.
NB for convenience I've written a for 10 and b for 11, so a chord shape
written as x9b9a9 is the same as x 9 11 9 10 9
