       Butuan City Tour Package
                                  Butuan, chartered city,
northern Mindanao, Philippines, on the Agusan River near its mouth at Butuan Bay. A
major settlement in early Spanish times, Butuan was visited by ships
from Borneo and Luzon, reportedly trading for gold, cinnamon, and slaves. A Jesuit
mission station was established there in the late 16th century. It has become the main
commercial center for the Agusan River valley and is served by an outport at Magallanes.
A sprawling city, it is an important highway junction and has an airport. The city has
several sawmills that service the logging industry of the interior, and it is a regional
petroleum depot. Inc. city, 1950. It was the original site of the first Easter mass in
Philippine soil. It was the site of the first formal hoisting of the Philippine flag in
Mindanao. And it was the home of the “Balanghai” or Butuan Boats, the famous pre-
historic native boats in Southeast Asia.

Magellans Anchorage
Located in Masao Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte, this site is believed to be where Magellan
landed and made blood compact with Raja Siaiu. History has this to say: Antonio Pigafetta
and the Official Chronicler of Magellan’s fleet wrote “as we have seen a fire on an island
(Masawa) that night before, we anchored near it.” The bright light was the beckon in the
darkness that guided Magellan’s fleet to the isle. “Masawa” means “bright” in Butuanon,
the only language in the Philippines that contains the word. This monument is located
some 30 minutes by tricycle from Butuan City proper
                                                                            Diosdado
Macapagal Suspension Bridge
Formerly known as the second Magsaysay Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge located in
Butuan City. With a 360-meter main span, its total bridge length is 880 m.

Spot this beautiful stone church now wrapped in Banyan tree locally called as Balete when
you visit the historic city of Butuan. Built by Recollect friars in 1625 but burned down by
Moro pirates in 1753, this church was once dubbed as the most beautiful church in the
     region before its destruction.

The Butuan National Museum is a national museum branch in Butuan City. The city is
abundant in materials and items coming from the prehistoric era of both treasure hunters
and archeologists. Due to its strategic position in Agusan del Norte, Butuan City has many
     great wonders found underwater.
In fact, a wooden boat was found in the area, said to be a European boat that was used so
many years ago. It is one of the museums’ finest attractions.
