CONNECTING THE PREVIOUS LESSON TO NEW LESSON
It will not be fair for different social classes if online learning becomes the
standard in Philippine education, because not everyone could afford
gadgets nor pay for an internet connection to go to their classes. The
education that should be for everyone will be only for those who can
afford the things, such as internet and gadgets, to learn.

ANALYSIS: SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
WHAT. What makes an individual or group of people belong to upper, middle, or
lower class? Explain the basis for your answer.
An individual or a group of people are classified to upper, middle, and lower class
based on their level of education, occupation, and income. In short, the lifestyle of an
individual determines the place or society in the society.
HOW. How could education be a way for social mobility and eventually change
one’s current social class?
Education affects an individual's critical thinking and job qualification. Then, a
person's job affects his income and income affects his lifestyle. All these things are the
ones that tell is your status in society. If education is higher or lower, then everything
will be just at the same level.
WHY. Do you think inequality may arise in a society because people don’t have the
same social status in life? Why or why not?
Yes, in many generations had passed inequality is still present in this generation. This
is because of the social status that tells your stand in the society and lets those who
are on top get all their needs and wants. While those who are below them are barely
surviving because of the lack of resources.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED
PROFILE PICTURE
QUESTION 1. As individuals before they got married, who do you think
belongs to the upper class, middle class or lower class? Explain.
I think Prince Harry’s social class belongs to upper class while Meghan
Markle’s before marrying Prince Harry, her social class belongs to
lower class because Prince Harry was born as a royal, therefore, based on the
ascribed status which means he inherited his status when he was birth. On the
other hand, Meghan Markle was in a lower class due to her status, where she
was a freelance calligrapher, taught bookbinding to support herself, contract
acting, modeling, and as a 'briefcase girl" in the US game show "Deal or No Deal,
before marrying Prince Harry.
QUESTION 2. Do you think Prince Harry’s social status is considered
as ascribed status or achieved status? Why do you say so?
I think Prince Harry’s social status is called ascribed status because his
social class was based on his birth. It was given by the society or group based on
some fixed category, like the clan where he came from.
QUESTION 3. What form of stratification systems do you think these
two personalities belong to, caste system or class system? Why do you
say so?
I think in contemporary days they both belong to class system because
social mobility is not legally restricted to certain people on this type of social
stratification. This is why it is possible for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to be
married. After all, there are different statuses under this social class where Prince
Harry and Meghan Markle is under. Lastly, if they would be under Caste system,
it would be impossible for them to be married with each other.
WHAT I CAN DO
MY JOURNEY TO SOCIAL MOBILITY REGARDLESS OF
SOCIAL CLASS I BELONG TO
Starting Point: I belong to the lower class.
First Station: I wanted to a CPA Lawyer in the future.
Second Station: My parents could support my studies until I graduate and
passed my exams to be a Certified Public Accountant. However, I don't know
if they could support my studies to fulfill my dream as a lawyer.
Third Station: As a work and strive for my dreams, I would definitely go
through obstacles such as the times where there are sleepless nights,
financial problem, and times where I feel hopeless
Fourth Station: While I am studying Accountancy in College, I would take a
part-time job in a restaurant or cafe until I graduate and study again for
board exam. On the other hand, to support my law studies, I will find work on
bank or in corporate company for experience and also to support my law
studies.
Milestone Station: If you want something to be in your life, work for it and
you'll achieve it.
