I. Objective:
 process information mentioned in the text listened to
 analyse literature as a means of discovering the self
 perform task by following instructions

II. Subject Matter:


Lesson: “Seven Ages of Man” by William Shakespeare (A Poem)
Resources: A Journey through Anglo-American Literature 9, pp. 9-10 (LM)
Materials: Laptop, TV monitor, visual aids, speaker, pictures

III. Procedure:
A. Preparation
 Prayer. Check the class’ attendance.
 Motivation. Let the students solve a short riddle.
 Ask questions: What significant role as a family member did you perform well yesterday?

B. Activity
 Ask the students whether they’re familiar with the important personnel of the school.
 Show photos of some employees from the school and students will be asked to recognize
their role in the school.

 Follow-up questions: Do you think their roles end the moment they step out of school?
What are the other roles they play in life?
 Introduce the lesson “Seven Ages of Man” and the author, William Shakespeare
 Unlock difficult words

C. Analysis
 Reading of the poem
 Reading Comprehension:
 What are the seven ages or stages of man? How are the seven ages of man
described? (infant, schoolboy, lover, soldier, justice, old man, extreme old man /
second childishness)
 What is compared to the” stage” in the first two lines? How are these two related?
(Teacher processes students’ answers to end with a common understanding.)

D. Abstraction
 Ask the following questions:
 What is the message of the poem?
 Does the stage where the man plays his role changes with time? How?
 In this time of pandemic, is it important to recognize and perform effectively your role
in life? Why?
E. Application
 Differentiated Activity (4 Groups)
 A Fan Letter to a Frontliner (8-10 sentences)
 Connect to Life (Table Completion)
 Where Am I Today
 Make a Slogan (Emphasize the importance of one’s role in times of pandemic)

IV. Assessment:
 10-Item Test
 Read the questions carefully and write the letter of the correct answer.

V. Assignment:
 Answer this question in your journal:
What roles can I perform that will make a difference in my life during this time of
pandemic?
