Discover the Art of Happiness within you
How?
Seeing the look on his face, those glittering brown eyes, those red rosy lips, and those
cute dimples of him whenever he smiles, makes my heart pump like a driller. I could still
remember the first day we met, and it makes me blush and smile. But life isn’t just about those
cute romantic moments. There is so much more in life. There are so many things to look forward
to, but, how can we live a happy life?
If you would ask everybody on what makes them happy, you would get millions answer.
That’s how life works. We live to what makes us happy, and our happiness is unique from
others. Everyone craves different kinds of happiness. Some people depend their happiness on
other people, some on money, and some just want to have a peace of mind. Whatever it may be,
follow what your heart desires.
Help!
At a young age I find myself locked in a room. Sitting at a corner, hidden behind
shadows, I stare blankly at the wall wondering ‘why?’ Waking up every day is a struggle. There
is a weight beneath my chest that makes living so hard like carrying a mountain. It’s hard to
breathe with a knife pointed at my throat. And through all these times, I had a friend. A friend
who’s always with me, constantly whispering to my ear — he is my shadow, a friend living
inside my head. For the longest times since the quarantine had begun, I’ve been a prisoner of my
own. I have been chained with uncertainty, drowning from disappointments, and lost in the dark,
deprived from hope. But slowly, I’m making my out of this cave that I am in, to reach for the
sunrise, and finally break free! Sometimes, I just want to sit by the beach. Bare footed, I want to
feel every grain of sand in my feet. I’ll wait for the sun to kiss the horizons, and bid its goodbyes.
At that moment, everything seems to be okay. Everything seems to be calm. I want to embrace
that short moment of peace; at least by then I am happy, maybe? Life is full of wonders as they
said, but why can’t I see rainbows and butterflies? Everything around me seems to be grey and
cold. Or is it just me? But I think Shakespeare was right when he said, “Nothing is good or bad,
but thinking makes it so. Happiness is in the state of mind. Maybe all I need is to look on the
brighter side of life, to look for happiness in the smallest of things. And embrace every
Imperfection I have and make it FLAWesome! I need to start waking up each day, looking at the
mirror saying these exact words, “You’re worth it. You are loved. You’re perfect.” The ideal
happiness of a man is when his heart is pure, where his happiness doesn’t rely on the hurting’s of
others. Only then is when his happiness is right.
Our feelings and thoughts are often occupied with either past or future, to the extent that
we forget about the present, and what we are going through at this moment. Often, we desire to
escape the present and reality. But even though taking life one moment at a time is a skill that
takes practice, once you've mastered it, you'll feel higher gratitude for your life.
In the outburst feeling of happiness, one must know when is Happiness right or wrong.
Can you afford to be happy to the extent of a wrong doing? What if your happiness depends on
the jewels on your wrist and neck, would you steal just to satisfy your pleasure? There is a clear
border between being happy and being right. Would you rather be right or happy? Right and
wrong, good and bad are typically associated with human actions, and Socrates has successfully
demonstrated that the motivation for every action is self-interest. According to him, an individual
will always choose the course of action that, at the time of decision, is perceived to bring them
the greatest benefit (or the least harm) out of all available options. Being right doesn’t always
mean being happy. So, we can define that a wrong act means inflicting hurt to another in the
sense of action or verbally. Being right is always being pure in heart and mind. We always have
the power and will to decide what to do, may it be right or wrong, but we need to consider our
happiness as an extension of the other’s happiness.
So what’s the secret to a happy life? If only everybody knew, then the world would be a
much happier place to live in. We all want to discover how to live a happy life. I’ve been in
pursuit of a happy life for as long as I can remember. I’ve always wondered what it takes to be
happy. As I pursued money, relationships, and success, I realized that happiness doesn’t come
from the outside; it comes from within. Happiness starts from within; inner peace is what I need.
Happiness lies in contentment and satisfaction. It does not mean that one should not strive for
more, but one should strike a balance between contentment and ambition. Faith in oneself and in
one’s creator is a positive approach to things and in thinking and a sense of detachment to
worldly things are some other necessary ingredients of happiness. Let us pray and do our duties
faithfully without being obsessed with their fruits to be really happy. The Bible says “Happy is
the man who fears the Lord, who is only too willing to follow his orders”.
So live life to the fullest, have no regret, worry less and care for other’s more. Find your
own rainbow and butterflies, fill your world with positivity and let life do its magic. Just always
remember that you are worthy and you are loved. Let that happiness within you radiate
throughout the world, because the world needs it too.
Smile! It looks good on you.
