REFLECTION PAPER – 2
Learning something is one thing, applying what you’ve learned is another. Yet, both are
equally productive and wonderful and it will certainly benefit the person who worked so
hard to achieve that level of knowledge when he or she applies it to his or her work. As I
described distinctly in my first reflection paper, my personal journey and experience in
learning the UiPath has not only been magnificent it is also rewarding at the same time.
Nevertheless, I believe that it is not enough to improve myself, my opinion is that I must
also share to others the things that I’ve learned in order to help them. The best way to
help other people is to educate and to train them: knowledge is the best gift that you can
give to others. The good thing about sharing your knowledge to someone is that in
effect you are not only helping them but at the same time you are also helping yourself.
Because the more you teach and train people, the more you will master the knowledge
that you are sharing with the others. This is the beauty of coaching, teaching and
guiding other people: you are becoming more and more better in the topic that you are
sharing and discussing to other individuals.
Why do I believe that sharing my knowledge to my colleagues is important?
I don’t want to sound melodramatic but I believe that I can contribute great service to my
colleagues by sharing my experience and knowledge with them. As mentioned in my
first reflection paper, my office mates and I have a wonderful relationship when it comes
to work. We’re like siblings living under the same roof. Therefore, it is a natural feeling
for me to share with them what I have.
Without being hypocrite, I want to emphasize that I am not a selfish person when it
comes to work. Suffice it to say that I also think about the others and not just myself.
Sharing what I have inside my head will definitely not make me poor. Hence, there is no
reason for me not to share the knowledge that I have acquired out of my own initiative.
Every hard working, persevering and honest employee is definitely aspiring for a
leadership position in his or her organization; there’s nothing wrong with that, in fact this
kind of aspiration is good and healthy. Though I am not in a hurry (since I am still
young) nevertheless I must be honest in saying that I am also eyeing for a higher
position in the company. The fastest way to achieve a leadership position is to show to
the management and to your colleagues what you’ve got inside your brain. The best
way to do that is to share your knowledge to your superiors and co-workers for the
benefit of your organization in general.
In this reflection paper I will discuss how did I share my knowledge to others.
The Emergence of the “Special Project Team”
1
The success of the In-House RDA (which I have discussed lengthily at my first reflection
paper) project paved the way for the creation of what we called the “Special Project
Team” to which I am one of the members. We are actually three (3) ladies in this team
including our Project Manager. The project team was essentially inspired by the
success of our previous endeavor to automate internally the data concerning the nature
of our work: Event and Planning. Vis-a-vis, the main focus of this project team is the
creation of more RDA. At the same time, we also offer Sharepoint development sites for
our team; and we’re at the same time engage actively in the coaching and training of
our team mates who expresses their willingness to learn the process of Automation.
Last February 2021 the Special Project Team presented to the “bigger team” our
accomplishment and apparently, they liked it. For this reason, more projects were
channeled through our pipeline. In order to cope up with these new projects that were
entrusted to us, we have intensified our campaign to train more team-mates who are
willing to learn UiPath and the result was that we got three (3) more additional
members. In hindsight, I can proudly say that the “Special Project Team” was really a
big success.
Level of Responsibility
Since it is I (and only me) in our organization that started and seriously embarked in the
learning of UiPath, I conducted the training of our team mates. I trained them in my own
way. I fully explained to them the step-by-step procedures that I have undertaken in the
process of learning the UiPath. I started by giving them the overview and the installation
process of UiPath. I’ve shown and demonstrated to my trainees the bot that I have
created. Likewise, I encouraged them to enroll in the Udemy course in order for them to
learn and explore UiPath on their own. As a trainer I can say that I am lucky because
my trainees were very cooperative and diligent; I felt their collective dedication,
perseverance and desire to learn the UiPath.
Amazingly, despite of their heavy workload they still have the time to learn UiPath. After
several sessions that I have with them, finally, they are now working on their first RDA
project called “VOID and ZZZ Deletion Bot”. This Bot will remove all the events in the
Cvent with VOID and ZZZ status). This is already completed however we want it to be
compatible with the new interface of Cvent. When they started this project, I was there
guiding them and at the same time I’m sharing with them my best practices on how to
create a process flow document. Since, this is a standard process in building a Bot
project, we need to submit first a process flow document for approval of the stakeholder.
As their trainer, I always make myself available to them whenever they need my advice,
perspective, opinion and suggestion. Likewise, I always answered their queries during
their sessions.

Key Activity
When I started conducting training, I emphasized to my trainees that I learned UiPath
on my own; that I have no mentor and I did not attend any formal class or tutorial
sessions yet I taught myself and I learned the UiPath. I keep on saying this line as some
sort of a rhetorical phrase because I want to motivate them. I want my trainees to
persevere in the same manner that I persevered. I want them to believe in their self. If I
can do it, you can do it too – this is the essence of my training message. Motivating the
trainees was the key activity that I have applied and extended to my audience during
the successive training sessions that I’ve conducted with them. In connection, the
technical aspects of the training sessions about UiPath, the overview about the subject
matter, the step-by-step procedures in installing UiPath etcetera and etcetera are all “in
the box” topics and activities, so to speak. Meaning, with or without a mentor these
people as long as they are properly motivated will eventually learn this subject matter in
the same manner that I’ve learned UiPath even without the help or assistance from a
trainer or coach. Hence, for me the key activity in all these training sessions boils down
to one word: MOTIVATION. How did I applied the motivation factor as the chief activity
in the training sessions that I’ve facilitated? Aside from sharing to them my personal
experience and journey in the world of UiPath I also encouraged my trainees to share
their points of view, the things that they learned and even the difficulties that they had
been experiencing in the process of their learning, in short, we always had this thing
called brainstorming.
So, why do I consider motivation as the key factor in learning?
It has been said by the experts in the field of education that “Motivation is
a key factor in successful learning. A less able student who is highly motivated can
achieve greater success than the more intelligent student who is not well motivated” this
is the theory of educators Reece and Walker in their book called “Teaching, Training
and Learning – a Practical Guide” and I for one believe in what they have written. In this
regard, the idea that only the intellectually smart people have the advantage of learning
valuable lesson is a complete fallacy. Even the so called “simple minded” person is
capable of learning great ideas as long as that person is properly motivated. Let us not
forget that there are great people in the annals of history who were regarded and
branded by their respective society as “failures” during their years as school students,
yet when they received the proper inspiration, they were tremendously motivated to
magnify their selves. Of course, we have heard the names of Thomas Edison, Albert
Einstein and other school drop outs and “failures” who had magnificent contributions in
the field of science and technology. In contemporary times we have Bill Gates, Steve
Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg who are not popular personalities during their school days
3
nevertheless they’re all highly motivated and for that reason they made the world of
Internet and Computer a wonderful field of learning. Motivation is always the key.
Sample Deliverables
The VOID and ZZZ Deletion Bot is the deliverable of my trainees; this is the outcome of
the seminar sessions that I’ve provided for them. In addition to that, the accomplishment
of our “Special Project Team” is also part of our achievements that we have so far
delivered to the bigger team.

Conclusion
An Englishman who is a poet by profession had wrote these beautiful words in his
poem, “no man is an island”. Indeed, we don’t exist on our own of course we need
people and people needs us. Life by nature is symbiotic (a process of give and take). As
an individual I studied UiPath because I want to improve myself and because I want to
satisfy my intellectual yearning during the darkest times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Napoleon Bonaparte “victory belongs to the most persevering” I have
learned UiPath not because I am an intellectually gifted person, far from that, I achieved
my victory because I persevered. I shared my newly acquired knowledge to my
superior, colleagues and to our organization because they need it and I can provide it to
them. The result was a great success.
With regards to the training of people. It is my opinion that the best way to teach people
is to motivate them. The problem with class room discussion is this, often than not it is
boring. Before you discuss to your trainees the nitty-gritty of the topic you have to get
their attention first and you can only do that if these people are properly motivated. In
order to motivate people “properly” you have to share with them your own experience
and journey. If you emulate the style of teaching of the school teacher most likely than
not your audience will be demotivated.
Finally, I believe that the trainer must encouraged his or her trainees to participate
actively in the discussion or what we commonly called brainstorming. This is the best
way to gauge their level of learning. Again, do not do the “teacher’s way”, the school
teacher ask question from the student and when the student gives the wrong answer, or
in case he cannot answer the question – the teacher would whack the poor student
4
because he is “dumb and idiot”. For the record, I believe that there are no dumb and
idiot learners what we actually have in the world are a bunch of demotivated learners.
Closing Remarks
Much has been said and I am aware of the fact that I have reflected extensively, I think
it is time for me to conclude. In closing, I just want to say that the things that I’ve written
in this document is not only the product of my learning UiPath but at the same time this
work is the outcome of diverse nevertheless interconnected feelings, thoughts and
experiences that I have accumulated in my journey. All these were encapsulated in this
reflection paper. Therefore, this humble document is an integral part of myself.
