8th Edition Proposed House Rules

1. The magic system is imported from Warhammer Armies Project 9th edition in its entirety.
This includes the amended rules for miscasting and irresistible force; additionally, the
miscast table from WAP should be used to ensure that miscasting functions properly.
The casting values in WAP and 8th edition are actually the same more or less across the
board, so we can use the lores of magic from 8th edition and still have magic phases
that feel like the WAP rules. This has the added benefit of making the level 6 ‘nuke’
spells (eg. Dwellers Below, Purple Sun of Xereus etc.) harder to cast because of the
lower casting bonuses for wizard levels as per the WAP rules.

2. The combat resolution rules from WAP will be imported in their entirety; unit strength will
be removed as a consideration for steadfast, which will be based on ranks as it was
previously. However, unit strength should be maintained (for simplicity’s sake) as a way
of calculating outnumber during combat resolution.

3. Flanking or rear charging (with at least unit strength 10) breaks steadfast and removes
static combat resolution bonus for ranks as per WAP.

4. Hordes are removed (ie. units ranked 10 wide do not make supporting attacks from the
third rank).

5. The rules for ridden monsters are imported from WAP (ie. Monsters ridden by characters
count as monstrous cavalry with a combined profile as per WAP rulebook).

6. Rules for Fear and Terror are imported from WAP.

7. Cannons do D3 wounds on the bounce, or D6 wounds if the target is struck by the

cannon ball with a direct hit before the bounce as per WAP.

8. Any units that do not have rules in 8th edition can be imported from WAP if desired.

Army Book Specific

Dwarfs: Master Rune of Groth One-eye has a range of 8 inches.

Vampire Counts: Models with the Vampiric special rule do not crumble due to lost combat.
Instead they will take a break test and flee as per living units in the case of units composed
entirely of vampires (eg. Blood Knights). In the case of mixed units (ie. a Vampiric character in a
standard Undead unit), the unit will crumble as normal until only the vampire remains, and then
the vampire will be required to take break tests for subsequent rounds of lost combat.

In the case of a ridden monster (eg. Zombie Dragon) the vampire will be required to take a
break test for lost combat rather than crumbling.
In all other respects, models with the Vampiric special rule will follow the rules for Undead
models as normal.

Bretonnia: The profile and special rules for King Louen Leoncoeur will be taken from the 8th
edition WAP Bretonnia army book.
