Instruction: Discuss each of the following question.

1. Why is the study of individual differences, mental ability, and personality an important activity?

Individual differences are the different ways that humans differ. Each organization member has
their unique behaviour. For managers it is vital to understand individual variations since they
impact employees' sentiments, ideas and conduct.

In terms of the mental ability, in the academic respect, IQ is socially significant since it shows a
wide range of actions and situations around us. Sociologists, journalists and other academics
tend to use any conjecture to explain the things around them, while rejecting diligently even to
take the most crucial factors into account: Intelligence level inequalities.

Personality refers to the generally constant patterns of a person's thinking, emotion and
conduct. This is an essential element in describing people's behavior in an organization and in
the conduct to the work and organization which is positive or unfavorable.

As a leader studying this differences improves not only your capacity to control and guide your
team but also gather fresh ideas fromdifferent culture inorder to improve the outcome of the
output. On this way, the company can gradually produce a high quality output and satisfy the
employees need despite of the diversity inside the work place with a friendly and peaceful
work environment.
2. What is meant by “individual differences”?
Individual differences are defined by lasting features that distinguish between one organism
and another. Traditionally, cognitive, emotional, behavioral and/or genetic features
attributed to individuals or animals have been part of these features.
3. What are the consequences of having people with different working together in an
organization?
Due to the more diverse workforce encouragement in oour society due to its benefits there
are also a lot of challenges in managing a diversified institution. The first is the
communication barriers it usually happens due to the fact that people in the society have
different languages which makes communication harder; Employee requirements iis also
an issue example of this is the cultural requirements and somereligious activities; Gender
equality issues is also a factor specially in the salary but it is mitigated by the equal salary
act in some countries; Generational differences is a common factor that also creates a
major difference when it cones to the their behavior and treatment from each other;
Disability discrimination, isolated individuals, resistance to change are also consequences
when it comes to a diversified workplace
4. In what ways are people different from each other?
We are totally different from one another because we have our gifts, our attitude,
behaviour, personality and talents. The difference is also that the human physical shape of
our body is different. Similarity, faiths and perceptions can be included in people's
differences. It can affect us psychologically and emotionally, because we meet people each
and every person that we have met, talked with and accompanied is reacting.

5. What are the sources of demographic diversity among people?


The sources if demographic diversity among people are: Sex and gender differences;
Generation and age-based differences such as Baby Boomers, generation Y;Ethnic, racial,
and cultural differences (culture has biggest effect)

6. Are there differences between men and women which affect job performance?
There are few, if any, important differences between men and women affect job
performance. There is no difference between men and women in skills for most sedentary
office jobs. As a proof of this fact, women have become a frequent place in a large number
of professions and careers. However, there can be a considerable degree of variance in
specific physical and medicinal positions For example, the absence of women in fighting
roles in military and professional sports reflects this. Because of our lower strength, worse
visio spatial skills and hand-eye coordination, women would simply not be able to
participate in many sports dependent on strength and endurance, and make lousy combat
soldiers

7. What is meant  by “ability”?

Ability refers to skills or powers. Ability is a noun for force, native or acquired, that enables
a person to achieve well: a person of considerable ability.Physical or mental ability to do or
do anything. The capacity to accomplish anything very well may be employed with an
inborn power. Many athletes can ride quickly. Talent is employed to produce things that are
unusual
8. What comprises the overall ability of a person?
The overall ability of a person can generally be classified into three categories:
cognitive ability, emotional ability, and physical ability. Simultaneously, these
three capabilities illustrate what a person can do.
9. What is the Triarchic Theory of Intelligence?
The triarchic theory of intelligence proposes that intelligence can be divided into three
types: practical, distinct, and analytical. Robert J. Sternberg, a well-known psychologist
whose research frequently focuses on human intelligence and creativity, coined the phrase.
10. What are the determinants of personality?

Physical environment, heredity, culture, and particular experiences are the determinants of
personality.
