1. What is the FITT Principle?
The F.I.T.T. Principle is one of the foundations of exercise, a set of guidelines
that help you set up a workout routine for maximum benefit. FITT is the acronym for
Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type of Exercise. It is especially suited to a beginner’s
efforts because it spells out exactly what he or she should do to get started. Applying
the FITT principle will ensure that your training is reasonably effective. These four
principles of fitness training may answer he following questions; Frequency-How often
you exercise, Intensity-How hard you work during exercise, Time-How long you
exercise, and Type-What kind of exercise do you perform.
2. Give three examples?
For instance in one of the principles related to the frequency of exercise, a
program that works every body part every session should be completed 3-4 days a
week with a day's rest between sessions. The second example would be when we use
the third component of the FITT principle which dictates what type or kind of exercise
you should choose; it is advised to improve the cardiovascular system wherein the
exercise should be continuous in nature like running and/or walking. Lastly, upon
understanding the FITT Principle and applying it effectively, we must mind the final
component which is the time, in cases like athletes practicing too much. Beyond a
certain point they uncover the risk of overtraining and injury, since too much of a good
thing isn’t good anymore.
