If you were told that you need to work as quickly as possible, how do you make sure that the

quality
of your work doesn’t suffer?

--> “When faced with a tight deadline or demanding situation, I find that working methodically and
strategically ensures I can balance speed and quality. I adhere to the standard procedures and
concentrate on each step. When possible, I group nearby or similar tasks together, ensuring I can create
a logical flow that allows me to adjust my focus seamlessly. By embracing pre-defined processes to
ensure the quality of my results while tackling them in a calm and focused manner, I can maintain
attention-to-detail even when I am moving quickly.”

Can you describe a time you went above and beyond in the name of customer service?

--> “In a past position, a customer was frustrated because the product they wanted wasn’t available.
Initially, they asked if we had any more stock that wasn’t on the shelf. I checked and confirmed that
wasn’t the case. But I didn’t stop there. To make sure the customer would leave satisfied, I discussed
their reasoning for needing the product. After learning about a few details, I was able to propose
alternatives that were in stock. I guided the customer to them and talked about the pros and cons of
each. Ultimately, they were able to get what they needed, and they left happy.”

What would you do if you saw a coworker steal a quarter from the cash register?

--> “If I saw a coworker steal anything, I believe it needs to be addressed. Even small thefts add up, and
taking Walmart’s property is not just against policy, but is also a crime. I would report the activity in
accordance with Walmart’s corporate procedures.”

Why do you want to work for Walmart?

--> Talk about how the prices at Walmart are lower than at most department stores and how they offer
their customers great value.

--> Mention how impressed you are that the company creates so many jobs, reduces inflation, and
provides great products for families in all income ranges.

--> With Walmart being a Fortune 500 company, say that you feel you can learn a lot about the retail
industry.

--> I want to work in a fast-paced environment.

--> Walmart is the largest retailer in the world.

They offer common goods, such as groceries and clothing.

All Walmart stores have pharmacies, as well as photo and vision centers.

Customers have the ability to shop online.

The company ranked #1 on the Fortune 500 list in 2019.

The headquarters are in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Sam Walton founded Walmart.

Their motto is “Save Money, Live Better”.

They sell quality fashion clothing called George. George is considered fashionable yet affordable.

They offer customers a Walmart Credit Card.

I like the brand of Walmart, and the vision of the company. I prefer to do my shopping here. The way the
customer assistants and cashiers approach us in a store is better then it is in other stores, at least in my
experience. I would love to become one of these assistants.

The way you work here, as well as the way the store is organized, resonates strongly with my values and
beliefs. What is more, the store is located near my apartment, so it would be easy for me getting to
work.

What hours can you work?

--> The more flexible you are with your hours, the better chance you have of getting hired, so be
flexible!

If possible, let the interviewer know that you can work on weekends and/or holidays.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

--> Associate manager and then Store manager

How would you define with excellent customer service?

--> The staff is friendly and always willing to help the customer find what he or she needs.

Customers are not waiting in line for long periods of time at checkout.

The store display is well kept and presented with adequate inventory.

How would you deal with an upset customer?

--> I would find out why they are upset. If the customer was upset with an item already purchased, I
would ask the customer if they had their receipt, and if so, I would direct them to customer service to
refund their money or replace the item. If the customer was upset because they could not find what
they were looking for, I would find it for them and not just point them in a general direction.

What experience do you have?

-->

Why should I hire you?

-->Provide excellent service to customers while maintaining strict security.

Ensure goods carried by customers are labeled appropriately to avoid any theft.

Check the receipts of bulk or high value merchandise going out of the premises.

Monitor the premises for any thefts and fraud activities.

Ensure that no merchandise leaves the premises without payment.

Develop in-depth knowledge of department operations and security systems.

Respond promptly to alarms according to company guidelines.

Identify and communicate any suspicious activity to Operations Manager.

Investigate frauds and thefts as directed by the Manager.

Implement safety and security programs for premises.

Perform scanning and bag checking of all employees when they leave the building.

Carry out daily security checks of the warehouse.

Generate daily and weekly cargo loss reports and circulate to appropriate personnel.

Monitor department operations everyday to check any violations of company polices regarding safety
and property and personal hazards.

Report violations and incidents to Operations Manager to take corrective actions.

Perform routine testing and maintenance of security systems and fire alarms.

After rereading the job description for the cashier, here is what I found:

Provides excellent customer service by Practicing the 10-Foot Attitude. Here, we have the first skill,
which is people skills.

Must maintain excellent productivity levels by scanning merchandise quickly and accurately. Skill
number two: working quickly and accurately in a timely manner.

Achieving the scanning percentage goal. Attending all Cashier training sessions. The third skill is being a
quick learner.

Looking at the qualification section, it states they are looking for someone with mathematical skills,
notability adding and subtracting, and working with decimals. This leads to skill number four, which is
math skills. Note, you do not have to be a math professor to be good at making change for a customer,
so state you have great math skills.

Taking the information above into account, when asked “why should I hire you?” at your cashier
interview:

Mention that you have excellent people skills and enjoy meeting new people.

Say that you can perform tasks quickly and accurately in a timely manner.

State that you are a quick learner.

Finally, say that you have great math skills and are comfortable making change.
Who are our competitors?

--> Several of Walmart’s competitors include Amazon, Home Depot, Ikea, Costco, Lowes, ALDI,
Walgreens, CVS, Target, Lidl, and Kroger.

What is your greatest weakness?

--> Don’t Say

You don’t have a weakness

You can’t think of a weakness
Something unrelated to the job
Do not state a weakness that is critical for the job

Do Say

I trust people easily.

but Yeah, after facing some some experiences at work place, now I know, how to cope up with this.

What is your greatest Strength?

--> The best way to respond to this question is to describe the skills and experience that you have which
directly correlate with the job you are applying for. With this in mind, review the job description and
reassure the interviewer that you have the experience and skills to do the job. Like....I am a quick
learner, host of technical knowledge,

What motivates you?

--> Meeting deadlines, targets, or goals

Mentoring and coaching others

Learning new things

Coming up with creative ideas to improve something, or make something new

Working well as part of a team

Finding a way to solve a problem, or overcome a challenge

Why is there a gap in your resume?

--> Honesty is the best approach when answering this question. Being honest about your situation gives
the employer a sense of your integrity and confidence.

What are your salary expectations?

--> This is a stressful question because if you ask for too much, you will not get the job, and if you ask for
too little, they will happily underpay you.

Be sure to research salary expectations for your role before you go into the interview. There are plenty
of sites that discuss salary ranges.

If you don’t know what to say then ask what the salary range is? You can then counter with the high
end of the range.

Note most entry-level jobs will pay minimum wage.

What do you like most about your current or last job?

--> Unfortunately, this can be a trick question as they may be looking for things you didn’t like in your
last job.

The best answer is to say that you enjoyed everything about your last job, however, you feel that you
have learned all you can in that role and are now looking for new challenges.

Why did you leave your last job?

-->Similar to the previous question, say that you enjoyed everything about your last job, however, you
feel that you have learned all you can in that role and are now looking for new challenges.

Tell us about a time when you went above and beyond for a customer?

--> Customers love when you go above and beyond for them which will, in turn, generate more business.
Try and think of a time you went above and beyond for a customer. For example, when I was a server at
a restaurant we did not have a particular dessert in the restaurant. Luckily the restaurant next door had
it and I was able to get it for the customer.
Here’s another example: in my last job I worked at a fast-food chain. There was a senior citizen at the
restaurant and he had finished his meal. It started to rain and he was worried, as he did not have an
umbrella. Luckily, I had an umbrella, so I walked him to his car, sheltering him from the rain.

How do you handle stress?

--> It is only natural to get stressed at work. What is important is how you deal with it.

Below is a possible answer:

When I have too many tasks, I step back, take a deep breath, and prioritize what I need to do. I usually
complete quick win or high priority tasks first. I also use stress as a motivator. I get great job
satisfaction when I successfully handle a stressful day.

Tell me about a time you had a conflict at work and how you resolved it?

--> It is only natural to have occasional conflicts at work. The important thing is how you and your
colleague came up with a positive outcome.

For example, in my last job, I worked in retail and was stocking shelves. While doing this, I was placing
the items that I felt had the most marketing appeal at eye level.

My manager told me to place perishable products or merchandise with high-profit margins at a height
that will be at eye level for the average person when stocking shelves.

When discussing this issue, I listened to what my manager was saying and did not argue. I understood
my mistake and stocked shelves the way my manager wanted me to. I also felt I learned a valuable
lesson in marketing.

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

--> Customer-oriented, hard-working, and motivated.

Communicative, Independent, and Team-Player.

Organized, helpful, and insightful.

Calm, productive, and positive.

If you could be one animal what would it be?

--> When you state what animal you would be, make sure to state why:

Dogs to demonstrate loyalty.

Ants are hard workers and team-players.

If hired at Walmart how long do you expect to stay?

--> If you are a student tell the interviewer you plan on staying at Walmart as long as you are in college
or university.

Tell the interviewer you plan on staying as long as there is career growth, which you feel is very possible
if you work hard at Walmart.

Do you prefer working at the register or on the floor?

-->

How do you feel about marketing Walmart credit cards?

--> Cashiers often offer customers Walmart Credit Cards. Be sure to check out any benefits the credit
card may offer.

State that you would find marketing these credits cards an exciting challenge and that you would enjoy
telling customers about any perks they would enjoy by having the card.

Are you comfortable working on your feet all day?

--> "Having participated in athletics through high school and remaining an active runner to this day have
helped prepare me for a job where I will be on my feet all day. I will be able to handle it with ease. In a
job like this, it is important to relax and refresh outside of work to come in each and every day ready to
go."

"I am comfortable standing on my feet each day. I get a few chances during the day to take a quick
break and sit while I scan a few patients and that has been enough for me. By keeping physically fit
outside of work and eating right, work days on my feet are much easier as well."
Tell me about your proudest customer service moment.

--> "I showed great customer service by having a great amount of product knowledge. I made sure that I
was the product expert so that I could be a wealth of knowledge to my clients. I would never want to say
"I don't know" to a customer. I will always find an answer if I don't already have one."

How would you approach a frustrated or angry customer?

--> "One time, there was a woman who was complaining that she didn't get her order yet and that she
had been waiting for 40 minutes. She was really yelling at the top of her lungs, which naturally stressed
me and my staff out. I stayed calm though and reminded myself that nobody should have to wait that
long and that I wouldn't want my mother waiting that long.

I apologized to her and asked her what the problem was. I acknowledged that it should never have
happened, and then I gave her what she needed. On top of that, I gave her a credit on her next order,
that way she'll be encouraged to come back and give us another chance to give her good service."

If you have a disagreement with a colleague, how do you address it?

Are there any aspects of the job that you think would be challenging?
Describe a time when you had to meet a tight deadline. How did you ensure the project’s success?
If a product range up at the wrong price, what would you do?
What would you do if you spotted a damaged product on the shelf? What about products that appear
to be tampered with?
Tell me about a time when you had to be professional, polite, and courteous and found that
challenging. How did you handle the situation?
If given two priority assignments, how do you choose which one to do first?
Tell me about a time when you followed a rule even when it was hard to do. Why did you find it
difficult? Why did you follow it anyway?
If a customer accused you of not addressing their needs, what would you do?
Which of your traits do you think will bring the most value to the team?
Do you prefer working as part of a team or independently?
If a manager asked you to switch up how you are doing a task, but you knew you were using the right
procedure, what would you do?
On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your communication skills? Why would you give it that
score?
If a customer approached you while you are in the middle of a high-priority task, what you do?
