I did the virtual tour of Buenos Aires, Argentina for the cultural assignment. This was
an interesting tour and it took me through many parts of the country: including culture,
architecture, and more. I first looked at the “Overcast above the city center.” It is interesting
because you can see tall buildings and easily tell that it was a city, but at the same time
there are areas that tell me it is just a town. I can see plants, trees, and grass in places as
well as a body of water nearby. I then went to the “La Recoleta Cemetery”. This is
interesting because everything is completely above ground and at the same time close
together. At first I thought those things were buildings, but they are indeed tombstones. It’s
pretty interesting you go down the street some and you’re back in the city with all the
buildings.
The next area I stopped to look at was the River Plate Stadium. It appears to be a soccer
stadium. The bleacher seats have a cool color scheme, causing red lines to flow around the
stadium when fans are not present. I didn’t find a capacity limit, but my guess would be
close to 100,000 people, saying that Heinz Field in Pittsburgh can hold about 70,000. One
more area I checked into was the “Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve”. Like I mentioned
previously, this displays basically a bunch of grass, trees, and land. It is extremely open and
there are little to no buildings shown as you go out further and further. On the other side,
though, you can get a good look at the city aspect in the background. I find it interesting that
it's such a short distance to travel from basically a huge city to a very open grassland. It
might be interesting to live in this area to experience both aspects of living in such a small
distance away.
