Online chat isn't just a hobby for bored teenagers anymore. Here are some interesting facts about chat use today:
· Young people still use chat much more than their parents. However, about 40% of adult Internet users use chat
software or chat features in their email services or on social networking sites. Many also use chat applications on
their smartphones and tablet computers.
· In one survey, 27% of chat users say that they use chat programs with clients at work. Chat use in the
workplace is up more than 70% in the last few years. It's becoming more and more common.
· Almost 30% of chat users say that chat is more important for them than email. That is, they send more chat
messages than emails every day.
· Nearly 25% of chat users send messages to people in the same location, such as in a home. For example,
teenagers in their bedrooms send messages to their parents in another room.
· Most chat users send messages regularly to only a small group of people – six or fewer.
