1.01 Introduction
In this section you, as the operator, will find important instructions on the
operation of the machine and the use of these operating instructions.
‘This VOGELE machine is a product from the wide range of VOGELE
road construction machinery.
‘The extensive experience of VOGELE as well as the latest production
and test methods guarantee the very high reliability of your machine. The
operating instructions belong to the machine!
‘These operating instructions are only valid in conjunction with the
safety manual. Please note:
‘These operating instructions are written for the operator and the
maintenance engineer on the construction site.
‘These operating instructions are intended to place you in the position to
operate the machire safely and to use its features to the full
‘They also provide instructions on the function of important attachments
and systems.
‘Specific terms are used in these operating instructions. To avoid
misunderstandings, you should always use the same terms.
Only qualified, instructed and trained personnel are allowed to wark on
this machine.
The operating instiactons, the safely manual and lhe sipulatons and
regulations applicadle in the place of use must be observed (for example
accident prevention regulations).

1.02 Documentation
A.copy of these instructions must be available to the authorized
personnel during the entire service life of the machine. Ensure that these
instructions are supplied together with the machine in case of a resale.

Before you start using the machine, you must have read and understood
these instructions.
‘These instructions are intended to familiarise you with basic tasks /
activites on the machine.

regulations at the time it was placed on the market in the context of its
correct use.
Itwas not possible to prevent foreseeable misuse or residual hazards by
design means without restricting correct functionally.

Usage
‘The machine is designed:
‘+ For paving, compacting and smoothing construction materials used in
layers for road surfaces.
‘The machine is only intended for industrial use on closed construction
sites.
‘The machine must be operated by trained operators in accordance with
the requirements in the technical documentation.
Any incorrect use and all activities on the machine that are not deserbed
in theee instructions represent unauthericed misuse beyond the bounds
of the manufacture’s liability
1.03.02 Reasonably foreseeable incorrect use
Ifthe machine is used incorrectly due to reasonably foreseeable misuse,
the manufacturer's warranty is Void and the operating organisation carries
‘sole responsibilty.
Reasonably foresesable incorrect uses are:
+ Carrying people.
‘+ Leaving the operator's stand during operation.
‘+ Placing in operation, operating the machine from outside the
operator's stan
+ Operating the rrachine with the oor foldes up.
‘+ Spraying with high-pressure cleaners or fre extinguishing equipment.
+ Removal of safety devices.
+ Fallure to observe maintenance intervals
‘+ Failure to take measurements and perform tests for the early detection
of damage.
‘+ Failure to replace wear parts,
‘+ Fallure to perform maintenance and repair work.
‘+ Incorrectly performed maintenance and repair work.
‘+ Storage of objects in places within the machine which were not
designed as stowage.
1.03.03 Residual hazards
‘The residual hazards were analysed and evaluated prior to the start of
the design and planning for the machine.
Existing residual hazards are identified in the documentation.
You can avoid existing residual hazards by implementing and
observing these requirements in practice:
‘+ The special wamings on the machine.
‘+ The general safety instructions in these instructions and in the safety
manual.
‘+ The special wamings in these instructions.
‘+ The instructions in the safety manual.
‘+ The operating organisation's instructions on operation.

Dangers that may result in fatality / injury can arise on the machine
due to:
+ Incorect use.

+ Faulty or damaged components.
+ Operation / use by personnel who have not received training,

Pollution can arise due to the machine in case of:

+ Escaping olls, greases or fuels (lubricants, ete)
Damage can be caused to the machine due to:
* Incorrect operation
+ Failure to observe operating and maintenance requirements.
+ Unsuitable oils, greases or fuels.
Damage can be caused to other property in the area where the
machine Is operated due to:
+ Inconel operation
Portormance limitations or limitations on the functionality of tho

1.03.04 Climatic conditions
Low ambient temperature
In cold weather the start performance and the operation of the diesel
‘engine depends on the following points:
* Used fuel
+ Engine oil viscosity
+ Slate of the batter

Pieces of advice for the operation in cold weather:
‘+ Allow the engine to run until the operating temperature has been
reached. By reaching the right operating temperature, itis avoided
that the inlet and exhaust valves get stuck.
‘= Alter shutting down the engine the cooling and lubrication systems are
‘ot immediately cold. That means thal the engine can be shut down
for 2 few hours and afterward be restarted without problems.
= Below 0°C (32°F) use winter fuel.
+ Before the cold eeazon etarte, fill in the lubricant recommended by the
engine manufacturer.
‘+ Weekly check all parts (hoses, V-belts ete.)
‘+ Check all electrical cables and conneetions for chafe marks and
damage at the insulation,
‘+ Keep the battery charged and warm.
+ Fill fuel tank at the end of every working shift.
At special operating conditions different greases, cils and fuels have to
be used
Acceleration and braking performance are influenced by viscous
hydraulic oll. At low outside temperatures wait a few minutes after starting
the diesel engine until pulling away.
Run the machine only at low load during the warm-up phase until he oil
cf the hydraulic system has heated up to approx. 20°C (68 °F),
High ambient temperature, high atitude
‘The maximum power of the engine, exhaust gas quality, temperature
level and in extreme cases the stariing characteristics can be impaired.
Ifthe machine is operated at altitudes higher than 1,000m or above an
ambient temperature of 30 “C (86 ’F}, quantity of injected fue! is reduced
automatically

1.05 Disposal
Packaging. cleaning agents and waste or left-over greases, oils and fuels
are to be recycled in accordance with the regulations cn the protection of
the environment applicable in the place of use.

data sheets and operating instructions
It you do not adhere to the instructions listed above, VOGELE AG
cannot provide any warranty for the electrical / electronic equipment
(accessories).

Immunity to interference
‘This equipment has been designed and tested for industrial use.
Nevertheless, the microprocessor technology places a number of
requirements on the installation. For thie reason we draw your attention
to the following installation features that could result in subsequent
malfunctions if not observed.

+ Apprerequisite for correct operation is a good electrical connection
between road paver and housing chassis of the individual

Reversing crawler tracks [15]
Precondition:

‘The crawler tracks of the road paver run in opposite directions as a
function of the postion of the steering joystick [51]
Using this function the road paver can be tured on the spot.
‘The action ofthis control is retaining / momentary. When it is released,

mode

You can select the diesel speed using these buttons. Once a diesel
speed has heen celected, the related light emitting diode illuminates. f
automatic diesel sreed adjustment is active, the diode flashes.
Starting / shutting down engine [54]
‘= Slarling the engine: Never keep button pressed for more than
10 seconds. Ifthe button is pressed for more than 30 seconds wait at
least 2 minutes before re-starting the road paver.
‘+ Shut down the engine: Keep button pressed for more than one
second,
Press the Start / stop engine button only when the Preheat symbol has
gone cut,

‘The 24 V socket for the beacon is switched ON or OFF.
