Education is very important to me, and I believe that learning is boundless, and if you are

motivated, no one can stop you from accomplishing your goals. I remember when I graduated

from high school and really wanted to pursue my education course, but I couldn't have a chance.

I was even not an honor student to have a chance for a scholarship. My mother told me to go

work abroad because she could not afford my education. I became an OFW at the age of 16. It

was in August 1996 that I went to Taiwan. I worked as a house cleaner for four households,

washed cars, cared for four children and two elderly people, and worked in their rice fields on

my days off. After a year working in Taiwan, I went back home to pursue my studies, but I

wasn't able to take the course that I wanted and ended up taking a two-year course instead. I am

also a working student to support both my studies and my family.

I graduated in the year 2000, happy and yet feeling sorry because my dream of becoming

a teacher remained unfulfilled. In 2013, I took the OLOPSC entrance exam and was able to

pursue my dream course. It was an opportunity given by my husband that I am so thankful for. In

2017, I graduated, and my ultimate goal of becoming a teacher was realized. Motivated by my

desire to teach, I pursued a master's degree with a concentration in Special Education, which I

value because I have a child with a cognitive disability. My child is the driving force behind my

decision to pursue a career in Special Education.

In 2018, I became a teacher at one of the public schools in Marikina. After a year of

teaching, I decided to build my school and formally open the center for children with special

needs in June 2019, but Covid-19 came, and the operation of the center was stopped. I would say

that this is one of the reasons why I decided to pursue my doctoral degree. I'd like to make the

most of my time by continuing my studies while I wait for a face-to-face class. I need to equip

myself to improve my leadership and become a good educator. In addition, earning a doctorate
and finishing it will give me a sense of fulfillment of a long-held dream to achieve a higher

academic qualification and a status that provides vast opportunities in a variety of sectors. It

would also allow me to explore and discover new knowledge in my chosen field, allowing me to

become a better educator and mentor.

My plan after completion of the program is to be on the same research and teaching track,

manage my center for children with special needs and practice my profession in different fields

of education. I would embrace all learning opportunities and do my best to be able to share my

knowledge and experiences that would help other aspiring educators.
