Activity 4: YOU ARE THE REASON
Create a 3-minute video clip on the importance of ABSTINENCE. Focus on
the following guide questions.
1. What is abstinence?
In its simplest form, abstinence is the decision not to have sexual
intercourse. It is a self-enforced restraint from indulging in bodily activities
that are widely experienced as giving pleasure. With abstinence, no barriers
or pills are needed.
2. How sexual abstinence important from keeping a person of getting
pregnant and protecting from STI’s and HIV/AIDS?
Abstinence means choosing not to have sexual intercourse.
Abstinence can mean either choosing not to have or delaying sexual acts for
a certain period of time. It is the only form of birth control that always
prevents pregnancy. Practicing abstinence ensures that a girl will not
become pregnant because there is no chance for sperm to fertilize an egg.
It is also effective at preventing the spread of sexually transmitted
infections. If you don’t have any kind of sexual contact with another person,
you can’t get STIs. But STIs can also spread through oral-genital sex, anal sex,
or even intimate skin-to-skin contact without actual penetration (for
example, genital warts and herpes can spread this way).
Abstinence really is a way to avoid the risks that come with sex like
pregnancy and STI’s. Thus it will help you focus on other things in life that
are way more important like friends, school, sports, activities, having fun
and planning for your future. Whichever you choose, stand up for what you
believe is right for you. You don't have to defend your reasons to not have
sex now, later on, or at all. Always remember: It's your right to be in control
of your body and your sexuality. It's wrong for your partner or friends to
force choices on you. It's your right to take your time in making decisions
that affect you for life.
Here is a YouTube video that is entitled Living With HIV and we are
going to create a reaction video towards it.
In the first part of the video, I would say I am in awe. It will hit you the
most talaga knowing that yes it could be a tough road ahead living with HIV
BUT it is not the end of the world and that you could do something to live
and fight HIV.
Now in this part, we should all be knowledgeable about this, we
should be aware on how spreads. HIV Human Immunodefiency Virus, in
which it attacks our immune system. Now, most of the people doesn’t really
possess a clear and precise knowledge on how this virus can spread.
Some just know that it can be transmitted in having unprotected sex and
others doesn’t know that we can also get it from sharing needles for
tattooing or even injecting drugs with a person who has HIV. Another one is
the breastmilk from a mother who has HIV and that people can be born
with HIV if the person who gives birth to them is living with HIV.
People do really react in many different ways when they hear that
they have HIV. You might carry on as if nothing has happened, you may
look for lots of information, or you might find it difficult to accept the news.
You may blame yourself. But I stand that people don’t get HIV because
they ‘deserve it’ – having HIV does not mean you are a bad, immoral or
stupid person. People with HIV and AIDS are nothing to be afraid of. They
are people just like every single one of us, and each has a story to tell.
These people should be helped, embraced, and not dismissed. We need to
open our hearts and our minds to them.
Even though there is no cure yet, there are a lot of ways that a
person can do to live a long and healthy life. The video alone made me
more aware about HIV even it’s simple and it really soak deep inside my
mind. People should hold themselves to a higher standard and do what is
right. God wants us to be pure until it is the appropriate time and to flee
from our selfish desires.
