THEMATIC TREE (2 MINUTE DURATION WHEN READ)
Paham: The Origin of Evil
(told by two souls)

The ritual priest brought ouija board to investigate the source of evil. Year
was 1942.

rumors about it, but they had to see it for themselves. They tiptoed their way up the

THEME 1: WE SAW THE INSIDE OF THE HOME. IT WAS OLD AND HORRIBLE. (PURELY
DESCRIBE BY INCLUDE FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE AND LITERARY DEVICES LIKE
SYMBOLISM AND IMAGERY)
Inside was a time travel – 1746, the year. I was the one who first opened the
door. As I stepped my foot onto the dusty mat, beneath it was age-old wooden
material, it ‘kriks’ as I entered. I warned Brianna to be careful and cautious as she
followed me. As we moved passed the first room toward the second, we heard
sounds of seemingly old chair that belonged to a lady or old grandpa. For three
minutes, it was moving back and forth. We smelt the dusty air and we knew we’re
pulled into a room of age-old wisdom – the second room. The shelves looked archaic
as do the scrolls and the books. Symbols from Egyptian hieroglyphs combined with
those of Dogon civilization kept us fascinated. Maybe the owner, if there was any,
was a bit scholarly. “Maybe. Who knows?” Who knew that inside that old, worn-out,
at least outside, house in the middle of the woods, was a collection of wisdoms of
unknown origin. We don’t know. At least I knew it was magical. Then, I told Brianna
to be cautious when she was about to open a dusty book, seemingly made up of
human skin cover, as we saw the dried blood and it’s – it was – it smelled like dried
blood left to rot. Actually, she was not used to gothic adventures as I do. She was my
sister. We were not able to see what was inside that book. We heard ‘howls’ from
the outside. As if someone or something was coming. O knew it was dark. The sunset
lured us both into that almost-forgotten house while wandering and thirsty. Our
father brought us into that woods at dawn. Then, he hurried back to town, back to
civilization. We were sleepy until that fortunate moment to get sheltered, at least at
first.

THEME 2: WE FAINTED. WE SAW APPARITIONS OF FIVE CHILDREN. THESE CHILDREN

WERE KILLED HORRIBLY. (EMPHASIZE THE USE OF FLASHBACK)

THEME 3: WE SAW WHO KILLED THESE CHILDREN. IT WAS A WOOD WITCH. THE
WITCH NEVER SAW US (PURELY DESCRIBE BY INCLUDE FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE AND
LITERARY DEVICES LIKE SYMBOLISM AND IMAGERY)

THEME 4: WE HID UPON SEEING THE WITCH. IT WAS HORRIBLE. WE TIPTOED AWAY
THE SLEEPING WITCH.
It was as witch. It was horrible. Coated in that dusty rotting flesh. I never know
Brianna could beat it. I tiptoed really fast and quietly. I called her attention. I shouted
with no voice coming out. I did not know what she was actually doing, but she
remained in that kitchen where several pieces of black and red candles stood
gloomily with their own self-made light. I was once inside that kitchen. I saw only few
kitchen utensils made up of few materials, dried bats and dried bird claws hanging by
the roof made up of darker and mossy clay materials, and a dining table full of dried
blood and traces of wool. I smelled ash and sulfur around the place. I was scared, but
Brianna was at ease. She drew some symbols onto the table. Then, she sat and
uttered some alien or foreign sounds. It sounded like whispering. Sounds of ‘um’,
‘un’, and ‘ik’. Then she poured the wool ablaze. An unfamiliar scent suddenly crawled
around the room approaching the library where the witch does its despicable deeds.
‘Thud!’ We heard. It was from the room where old books sat. I was shocked when
Brianna pulled me away from that position where I stood like time stopped for that
moment and suddenly moved its arms to continue the aging of the universe. She told
me it was time to go and we tiptoed out from that house.
1747. The town where we were living at the time had been striken by an
epidemic, an unknown epidemic. Many died from the unknown disease. Doctors
could not help. Authorities could not help. Until I discovered Brianna brought that
book covered with human skin back to the town. “The book helped us escape the
wood witch,” she screamed with terror. Any person practicing witchcraft during that
time was condemned and burned alive in front of the public. The evil book – the
Paham started to bring horror to the humanity.
